A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

Defying Fortune’s Spite

This freshly done flaming wing (phoenix-esque?) cutting comes to us from Azl at Tatooutouage in Montreal, Quebec. Let’s hope this gentleman gets the other side done, otherwise he’s just going to fly in circles, and nobody wants that.

Truly stunning. Hope he gets the right-hand side done to match, and posts pics of both sides healed.

And I forgot to mention – nice broad shoulders and narrow hips. I’m so jealous.

Whenever i see scarification on backs, i think about how horrible and impossible it would be to lay down. 🙁

laying down on it is not as bad as you think it would be. i got my whole back done at philly this year with the exception of a small bottom right portion…its more tolerable than you would think…and ya keep it covered, unlike a tattoo so its not like your getting it dirty…

the real pain comes from the first 2 or 3 showers….haha

I hope he never gets the other side done. I only have one wing on my back as well and it means very much to me. I can’t tell you how many “flying in circles” jokes I’ve had to endure though. Lame.

sorry to be a downer, ive never like winged back tattoos, so i naturally dont really like winged back scarifications/skin removals. Buttttt, the wing itself looks fine, butttt, the flames make it look, well, uninteresting. i dunno, flames on most things just make it look “trashy”

but i do agree that the asymmetry is much better

for once, i agree the asymmetry works better for this piece. both wings would just be too much.

i also like the assymetry, and i don’t think fire makes things look trashy.. unless by trashy you mean bad ass.
lame, 1 dimentional, scratcher, trashy fire looks trashy, not this.
