It’s with sadness today that I have to post about the loss of yet another member of our community. IAM: Karnivore, Francesco, was killed last week in a senseless attack. All of us here at BME are saddened to hear of his passing, and our thoughts are with his friends and family during this difficult time. We’ve updated his IAM page to serve as a memorial for those who knew him.

I agree with the senseless attack. It’s amazing what this world is coming too. I didn’t know him on here but Cale had told me the news earlier. She was friends with him and I send my dearest thoughts and sympathy to everyone on here that knew him as well his family.
I’ve lost friends myself to such things as well as family….it’s never easy to deal with. Rest in Peace Francesco. Wish we could have met in this life…

Definitely sad for those that new him. I found it pretty sad in terms of why he was in jail to begin with. Child pornography. And communicating with with underage girls.
Not to take away from the seriousness of him not being here any longer but there are 2 major concerns here.
It’s sad all together.
Not to point fingers anywhere, but maybe let’s just try to be respectful of the life lost instead of all this virtual rubbernecking. Unless his death related to our community in some way (such as being the victim of a poorly done procedure) there’s no reason to go prying. Let us mourn the loss to our community with compassion and a respect for privacy.

@Claire/Nicole: Whether or not he did those things was up to the courts to decide, he was charged yet died before his day in court. He never had that day, so he was never proven guilty. We’re here to mourn the loss of a member of this community, not dwell on what they may or may not have done.
i knew fran for over 10 years. i don’t for one second believe he was in possession of child pornography. as for communicating with underage girls, unfortunately for us in the age of the internet we are lied to a lot easier than we would be in person. in this case, the girl was caught sending out pictures by her father and fran ended up in jail because of it.
he was stuck in a cell with a CHILD MURDERER and ended up dead himself before he had the chance to be heard. i wasn’t there, i don’t know the details but i will mourn the loss of a friend who was always there for me and anybody when they needed him.
he did not deserve to die like this.
there’s more deaths on modblog because someone is posting them. sometimes irresponsibly.

@Taye: Does the phrase “innocent until proven guilty” mean anything to you? As Rob pointed out, we may never know whether or not there was any truth to what was said, but if you’d rather be an alarmist reactionary then maybe I’m okay with you leaving.
@Mucus: No, there’s more deaths on modblog ’cause IAM members keep passing away, and I, for one, like that as large as this community has become, we can still take the time to celebrate a wedding or a birth, or mourn for a tragedy within our community.
I have known people who have been in comas for “senseless attacks” on their queerness or tattoos or looking at someone the wrong way, innocent teenage boys who hadn’t kissed a guy yet ended up having the shit kicked out of them, this guy was in jail for a reason, and not a good one, sorry he died, but he made his choices, and he wasn’t part of MY community

I will be the first to agree that Pedophilia is disgusting, amoral and absolutely awful, but we don’t know that he was one or not. I personally knew someone very well who was accused of possessing child pornography. I knew him very well, and can say without a doubt that he was innocent, and the courts ruled the same way. But the damage had already been done. Just the fact that he had gone to court over it meant he was harassed and ridiculed everywhere he went. He eventually killed himself after years of never being able to find real work, and being treated like shit everywhere he went.
If this man was a pedophile, then I shed no tear for him, but we don’t know that he was. It’s that simple.
Sorry for continuing to debate this point, but as you can see, this issue is close to my heart.

He was a fiance of one of my best friends. He didn’t seem to be into what he was charged for. I don’t think anybody has any say in whether or not he did what he did. You didn’t know him so stfu. A life loss is sad no matter how you look at it. This should not have happened.
Perhaps you should read the article, rather than just seeing the words child pornography and deciding to take a moral stand in a forum that is here for friends to share their mourning.
This girl was 15, which means she could very easily have looked 18, and her father caught her sending him pictures, which is what landed him in jail. This could have happened to practically anyone who sends or accepts nudes online, and let’s be honest, most of us do or have. I am not condoning pedophilia, but I am also not convinced that the charge applies here, and none of you have cause to be either. You read one charge, listed in one news article, and now you are spewing hate in a place where people are trying to console each other over the loss of a friend. You are no better than the bigots who protest at gay funerals. You make me sick.
I hope your loved ones are treated with more respect after your passing than you have shown today.
Can we all please be respectful to Francesco’s family and loved ones? If you have something negative to say, could you say it elsewhere? I don’t think it’s necessary to say it here when people are grieving.
This post is about the death of someone that has family and friends out there. Let’s focus on that and allow people to mourn without having to defend the person they loved.

Wow, Lily, wow. I guess you haven’t looked at many teens these days. The way a lot of them dress and act. They damn sure are deceiving. Especially when they are whipping their clothes off online. You ASSUME they are 18 when they say they are 18. Artie is 100% spot on! You just never know anymore.
Think about all the damn growth hormones that are in foods today, it’s causing girls to develop at a much faster rate than it used to. so it’s very easy to mistake the age of some teens. Hell I have a friend that’s 17, I’m 26 and he looks like he’s my age and he’s damn smart too. If he hadn’t told me his age, I would not have guessed he wasn’t even a legal adult yet.
Also, if my 15 year old daughter is sending titty pics to dudes on the net, she’ll get a good talking to. You can’t stop it, they’ll do it anyways. I guess you must have forgotten what being a teenager is like, full of hormones, having a big sex drive, or just getting curious about sex. I mean really? Did you not experience anything remotely like that?
I’m sure half of the people here have felt this way sometime or another. It’s quite easy to build a relationship online, even if you don’t know who the person is or if they are telling the truth about their age.

We live in a culture of rape, why not make prevention rule #1, instead of telling women how to dress/act/where and when not to be/who to not associate with, why not tell men to not rape, instead of sitting women down in a gymnasium when they’re 14 and saying, if you’re a slut you deserve whatever happens to you, tell the boys that they should karmically get raped in prison if they buy roofies

I take the negative side of arguments often here, and I can’t even believe this debate.
The guy was murdered. He wasn’t even convicted, and you’re assuming you know that he was a horrible person. Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.
Rape culture is horrible, and we all know that. No one deserves to be raped or abused regardless of how they present themselves. That doesn’t mean that the simple accusation of wrong doing should make someone guilty. This isn’t the Salem Witch Trials. And if you honestly think that you could easily tell the difference between a 15 year old’s dirty pictures and those of an 18 year old, you are either actually ignorant, or just pretending to be so you can further your argument.

I have to say that the people condemning him are basically using mob mentality. Someone accuses someone of something, and everyone else just piles on and starts a witch hunt to burn them.
I haven’t seen a single post here saying it’s a woman’s fault if she gets raped. No one has even remotely implied that. So using that as your counter-argument is ridiculous.
It is VERY plausible for someone to exchange pictures with someone online who is 15 and think they are 18, or even older.
So i think anyone who thinks Francesco got what he deserves should really be ashamed of yourself that you think you know enough about the situation to decide someone deserved to be beaten and stabbed to death.
Like i said, i didn’t know him very well. But what little i did know, he didn’t seem like someone who deserved what happened to him.
No one deserves to be murdered. I wish people would respect Francesco’s loved ones and just keep your mouth shut. Don’t talk about a situation you know nothing about. Had he lived he just as easily could have been acquitted of everything. So just shut up and have some respect for the people who are in mourning.
I met Francesco over ten years ago and considered him a very good friend. My heart hurts to know that he’ll no longer be around. I, nor can any of you, cannot know for sure what went on in that cell. All we can do is remember him in the capacity we knew him. For me, he was a beautiful man. One who supported his friends in life, loved his Yorkie and Dachsund, had greater work ethic than most I know, a listener/lover of all music, and someone who I will miss everyday. Again, regardless of what he was accused of, he is still gone and we are still mourning. Respect that please.

I JUST found out that he has passed… I lost contact with Francesco when he moved to Vegas. I dated him for about a year, and, even though he had his faults, he was a beautiful person. He had a great eye for art, and loved amazing food, and he was kind to everyone that I saw him deal with. And I saw the beginnings of his love for tattoos grow while I was dating him.
He took THE best photos of me ever taken.
He is sorely missed- no one has room to diss him- everyone has things they’ve done, mistakes they’ve made.
