A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

Tenderized

I would be remiss if I didn’t take a second to mention all the phenomenal animal-related tattoos and scarification projects we’ve been getting lately. I know there can be a little push-back on here when it seems like we’re too thematically static for extended periods of time, but you’ll have to forgive us, because really, we’re just getting inundated (in a good way) with so much great stuff. Like, for example, this phoenix cutting by Brooklyn dandy Brian out of Williamsburg’s Pure Body Arts, which looks positively ground-beefy fresh as it is in this shot, but if anyone can make a piece like this work, it’s probably him. We’ll be anxiously awaiting the results.

Was there skin removed from the main body of the phoenix or is it just really chewed up from hundreds of small cuts? I’m finding it hard to tell.

I was just talking about this with him today….No skin removal. Everything is just kinda tore-up.

i have a feeling this will lose much of its definition and be unrecognizable as a pheonix once it heals

Ground Beefy indeed. I like the word “beefy”.

Another vote for the Vitruvian Man.

Beautiful workmanship. The detail is amazing.

Awww. I thought you guys had forgotten about me. 🙂

This piece was a lot of fun. It gave tons of room for artistic freedom and I worried less about exactness, as the objective was a feathered, brushed, organic look. It came out as good as I’d hoped, so now we’ll just have to wait to see what healing does to it.

I’m with Anjellica #5 – it might heal up nicely and the design is cool but the whole thing as it IS right now is giving me the heebie jeebies something fierce with all those little cuts so close together.

It’s the little HOLES thing. Delicate little networks of holes….aaaargh.

I dunno…I don’t think it looks very good to begin with, and then I just wonder if it’s going to heal favorably. I hope for his sake it does, but it seems questionable to me.

    different strokes I guess.

#15- The only removal on this piece is the tips of the wings.

I love the texture and the organic feel of this. It looks natural to me, and not like it was put there by a scalpel.
I really hope the cutting can retain that texture as it heals.
