A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

Genetics and Evolution Tattoos

Two ways of talking about the same theological conundrum perhaps? The DNA tattoo (currently just outlined) is by Trevor Collis of Iron Age Studio in Saint Louis, Missouri, and the evolution themed calf tattoo is by Roger from Steady Tattoo in Minneapolis, MN. As I understand it, both of these tattoos are illegal under the USA PATRIOT ACT, and if the owners are not careful who they show them to… off to Gitmo!

    Illegal?

Why the fuck would it be illegal to have things which have shown up in Time-Life (the evolution chart) and every single biology textbook aimed at 7th graders and up (applies to both, actually) tattooed on one’s person?

BTW, I really love the DNA.

Obviously, he was joking/making a statement about the current US administration.

Anyway, I love love love the evolution one. Wish I had thought it up.

^^^ Oops. Shannon has said similar things before and actually meant it, so I just assumed the same was true this time as well.

Also, I seem to be extremely gullible at times…

i don’t get why it’s illegal? is this something to do with the whole religion almost being taught as science thing?

i’m a biochemist and i’ve always wanted a DNA or ball and stick model molecule as a tat. i saw the DNA piece earlier in the geek tattoo portfolio. it is better than what i what i had been imagining.
i loved it then, and i love it more now.

    superb work, indeed.

Check out http://www.inkednation.com/jessman to see the fill-in and background in progress for the DNA tattoo. By the way, the DNA sequence is actually that of the person with the tattoo.
