A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

Better Than Burning Ants.

Believe it or not this solar powered scarification on Jeremy was done using two things, a magnifying glass and a handful of sun rays! More photos by Andrew (the brander) after the break..

For the life of me I could not work out how this was possible but I think I get it now. It’s such a unique idea, I hope it turns out well, it looks pretty damn cool.

I wonder whether using a “Stencil” for this would be effective, stroking the light back and forth to cover an area for those without steady hands whilst undergoing pain

#54, We thought about the same thing.

I cut a lot of stencils anyway.

This design did expand quite a bit. About the same as strike branding. So a super detailed design, even with a stencil, I think is unlikely.

If I ever get around to it, I was going to coat my paper in silicone before cutting the stencil. Silicone’s heat resistance, I think, would make it ideal.

I hope to see pictures of anyone else trying this. (with or without a stencil)

I met a guy called Cricket in Tucson several years back who did a sun scarification on his own forearm.
