This is my tattoo story. In the past 2 years, I've had a lot of medical problems. I got diagnosed with crohns after 7 endoscopies, had my gallbladder taken out at 16 and 5 months later had my tonils taken out because of recurrent tonsillitis every 2 months. I was forced to drop out of school because of missing 5 months from surgery and being sick all the time. I was at rock bottom and the only thing that got me through it was my mom telling me that I just had to take it day by day and live for this moment right now.

Now being 18, I could finally get a tattoo. I wanted something that meant a lot to me and I knew no one else would have. I decided on the quote "live for today" because of my mom. My mom is my best friend and went through the same medical problems as I did. But I wanted it in a different language. I'm Czech. & My great-grandmother died 2 years ago and spoke Czech. That was the language I was going to get. I checked a couple translators to make sure the quote was right and had my tattoo I wanted. "Zit Pro Dnesek" was the final product. I was going to get it on my forearm but my parents were not happy I wanted a tattoo at all so I had to get it somewhere less noticeable but somewhere where it wouldn't lessen the meaning and I would still be happy with it. I decided on my lower stomach. I looked at fonts online and found the one I wanted. I called Sins and made an appointment. I was scheduled for Friday at 12:15.

I took my friend Kelly with me, she has close to twenty tattoos. We were both excited. I think she was just as excited as I was. We got there 15 min early and waited for Tony. Kelly told me if i wanted her to go first, she would, so she showed him the star tattoo she wanted to wrap around her wrist. He started doing her wrist and she made faces sometimes but she said for the most part it didn't hurt. He had to reapply the stencil 3 times to get it to look good. I watched nervously as he did the outline. It looked so good. Then he took a break and came back, and did the shading. Then he wrapped up her arm and she was done. Then it was my turn. My face was so red because I was so nervous. I told him where I wanted it, on my lower stomach. He gave me a price of 150 and I agreed that was fine. He called me crazy for getting my first tattoo there. I just laughed and everyone else re assured me I'd be fine. But on the inside I was trembling. He got everything ready, explained to me what he would, showed me everything was sterile and applied the stencil, looked at it and wiped it off. He re applied it and said it couldn't have gotten any straighter. I agreed.

I then layed in the chair & He told me he'd do a line so I could see how it felt. He did and it wasn't too bad. Its a hard feeling to describe but it feels like when you cut yourself in the shower and the water hits it, it kind of burns and hurts a little but you get used to it. Once the outline is done, everything is numb so you dont really feel the shading. The outline was the worse like everyone says. Some spots were really painful and others I didn't even feel any pain at all. I didn't take any breaks. And it was over before I knew it. He wiped me down and it was the best feeling ever! He instructed me to wash it in an hour with dial soap and pat it dry and apply ointment he gave me. We left and I was so happy! I was pretty swollen. And it was sore for a little while. I kept putting the vitamin A and vitamin D ointment on it and it scabbed and peeled some, but not much. Showering felt really good on it. My tattoo pictures are on my myspace and Ive gotten nothing but compl iments and how good it looks. Tony is an amazing tattoo artis, and talks you through everything to make you more comfortable. But the final product is amazing and I couldn't be happier! I'm so excited when everyone compliments me on it. I'm ready for my next one already! My next tattoo will be for my grandfather and I will be sure to write about that experience also.
