I am now officially a member of "John and Cammy's IAM: mancore" (If you have never seen the forum before it is a bit silly and you basically gain "man points" through mods etc!)
I set off down to Metalurgey in Dundee this afternoon to get my lip horizontally pierced (that is now all set for tomorrow - along with a bit of ear scalpelling) and when I wandered in Cammywas getting his finger tattoos re-done. I sat and chatted to everyone for a bit and the subject of BME came up, and we ended up talking about mancore points. After a joking away about how to gain some extra points Cammy decided that he wanted mancore tattooed on the inside of his index finger and BME on the inside of his middle finger - and me and LittleJohndecided that if he got it tattooed we would as well ( I honestly did not think he would do it....but evilpixie(rich)just flipped Cammy's hand over, drew on a little design and got on with it!
After a great deal of laughing it was time for me to do as I had promised. I had by this point decided that I was not going to get it done on my finger as I do not think I would like to look at it, and have to explain it to people everyday! So I had decided to get it on the sole of my foot (so that way it would be hidden and secret)- what I did not know at the time is that this is a VERY painful place to get tattooed.
evilpixie went off to clean up and get ready so I went into the bathroom and scrubbed and soaped my foot until it was spotless, while I was doing this John decided he was going to get I heart BME mancore on his toes.
Once Rich was all set up I came and propped my foot up on a little stool thing, he gave my foot a wipe and he quickly wrote "mancore" on my sole in nice, childish, lowercase letters. I had a look and changed the way the a was drawn, other than that I was happy with the placement etc - and everyone agreed it looked nice where it was.
John asked me if I wanted him to hold my hand and of course I said yes and got a good hold on him, I asked Rich to give me a nice pep talk and prepare me for it, and he said "this is going to hurt", I think at that point it kind of sank in what I was away to do - but I figured I had gone this far I might as well go on. So I got myself all settled again and I was told to "brace myself"..... but nothing could have prepared me for the pain of that first line.. I stupidly pulled my foot away (and you can clearly see where I did it in the "m") and I screamed, thankfully there were no customers in the shop to hear me. It was decided that for me to make it through this tiny, little tattoo John was going to have to sit on my lap and hold my leg in place as it had started spasming rather badly.
Once I was all braced in the chair he went back to doing the m, and though I was aware of what the pain was going to feel like- it was still rather unbearable and by the time he had got "man" I was nearly in tears and shouting at him to stop. After this I was given a jumper to bite and shout into, this really helped actually, as soon as the jumper was in place the rest of the tattoo was completed with relatively few stops (albeit a LOT of unnecessary swearing)
It really needs a second going over as at points it is patchy where I have moved my foot - but I am really rather pleased with it. At least I now know where my pain threshold lies.
Ideally the finished product is going to have BME going across and joining up with the last e in mancore, and also 3 little, pink love hearts. Shall need to see about that though.
After my tattoo was all complete John got his toes done - and it looked massively uncomfortable, then Cammy set up all of his equipment and he tattooed Rich's ankle - which also looked rather sore.
So now all four of us are wandering around the City of Dundee with our man status branded on us. It has been about nine hours since I got it done - and now it is starting to throb rather a lot.. Well let the healing begin!
and here is how it looks -
It clearly needs touched up and finished off etc (I am adding BME to it hopefully and some little pink hearts!)
