I've wanted a tattoo for as long as I can remember and just a few days ago I did. A few days before my 18th birthday I was talking to my mom about wanting a tattoo and she freaked out on me and told me that she didn't want me getting one until I moved out. Well of course that just made me want one more, so I talked to all my friends about and decided to get one without her knowing it.

We both made appointments around noon on a Friday that we didn't have school. The night before was the longest night ever. I could fall asleep until 3am. At around 8am I woke up to Rod hitting me with a pillow. He was so excited that he was wide-awake. The day passed slowly until finally it was time to leave. I went with our friend Joie and Rod with our Iggi.
We had previously made a bet about who would get there tattoo first and luckily I got there before he did. I had decided to get a lime green and black nautical star on my lower back that was about 2 inches tall and wide. When I got there, I was the only person in the shop. They automatically knew who I was which was pretty cool. After signing all the papers saying that I was legal and that I didn't have any diseases, it was time to get it done. First I had to stand there will he cleaned my back and put the design on, which made me very in patient and even more nervous. Then it was time. He had me sit on the chair sideways and gave me a stool to lean on. When I heard the gun turn on the sound freaked me out and I was just waiting for the pain. The second the needle touch my skin, I was relieved. It didn't really hurt at all. It actually kind of tickled. The guy asked me if I was ok and I told him that it tickled and he just looked at his friends, laughed and said, "looks lik e we've got ourselves a giggler."
A few seconds later Rod and Iggi walked in. I couldn't help but rub it in Rod's face that I won the bet, but apparently I moved and almost screwed up my tattoo. A first it kind of tickled, but then it started to get warm. It was almost like a burning sensation. As the needle got closer to the end of my spine it started to hurt. It was very intense, but it did hurt. A few seconds later he was done and I looked back into the mirror to see my first of many tattoos. It was so awesome that I couldn't stop starting at it. He left and then came back with plastic wrap and tape. He put some plastic wrap on my back and taped it. It was done. My experience was over, but I was so excited that I couldn't sit down. After an hour, I had to take off the plastic wrap, wash my back with anti-bacterial soap, let it air dry and then apply the ointment that he gave me. At first my back wasn't sore at all, but by that night it was. Every time I would sit down, it would pull the skin, which irrit ated it. I was supposed to wash it 2 times a day and then put the ointment on it, but I forgot. Rod had lost his ointment so I gave him mine and figure that I could just use Neosporin. It's still really sore and I hope I didn't screw it up, by not following the instructions completely. The day after I got it, it would get really dry and then it would get really sticky. The excess color would come off in little sticky clumps. When I would wash it, it would be really slimy, but it eventually quit doing that and just became really dry. Being Florida and all, of course it is hot so that didn't really help with the stickiness, because the sweat would make it worse. I love my tattoo, but it's really annoying right now because it rubs against my clothing and my furniture. I would really recommend getting some shirts that have open backs. Not only do they let you're skin breathe, but they also allow you to sow off you're new tattoo. They also help to prevent irritation from you're clothes sticking to you.
Also, don't touch it a bunch because that can screw up the healing process. Be for warned that you're friends will have an obsession for touching you're tattoo or jut looking at. Just remember to tell them that they can look, but they can't touch!!!!
