Ok, I know this story is probally gonna be the trite "I had been wanting my first tattoo for a really long time, and I finally went through with it" story, but deal with it I'm a music major not a english major. So anyway...
At A Glance Author Impatient Alissa Contact skankyassbitch@yahoo.com Artist Anthony Plaza Studio Darkside Tattoo Location East Haven, Ct I knew I wanted to get tattooed but I was not sure what I wanted and where I wanted it. I vowed to myself to wait for a few months after I turned 18 just to make sure I was not doing it to just get tattooed. I also vowed that I would not get some piece of flash that someone else can choose from. I finally decided that I wanted to get a g-clef tattooed on the inside of my left ankle. For all of you that don't know what a g-clef is, get out a music dictionary and look it up. I love music and I have been playing instruments for about 10 years. I thought it was an appropiate thing to get tattooed because I knew my love for music would never go away. After thinking up what I wanted I called up Darkside Tattoo for my appoiment. I knew I wanted to go there because my brother had gotten a Giger sleeve done there and it looked incredible. They gave me an appoiment for 6:30 on monday night.
I was so excited when monday finally rolled around. I shaved my legs and took one last look at my leg before I got it tattooed. My friend picked me up and we drove down there. There was construction work on the highway so it took an extra 15 minutes do get down there. When I got there at 6:45 I thought they were gonna kill me. Anthony (my artist) didn't care and I was relieved about that. I told him what I wanted and he went into the back to draw it up for me. While he was drawing I swear I must have smoked a half pack of smokes. I was so nervous about getting it done. I'm not to bad with pain considering I have both conches, both industrials, 00g lobes, my tongue, and my eyebrow pierced, I just didn't want to have it hurt for an hour. When he was finally ready he showed me and of course I loved it. We went back and he cleaned my leg and shaved it. I've never had a man shave my leg before, it was interesting. He applied the transfer right where I wanted it, and gave me the speech about how all the needles are new and everything is autoclaved. I watched him unrap the needle and pour the ink into seperate things. It was now time to begin.
He started with one small line to make sure I could go through with the pain. When the line was done I asked "was that all???" when he replied I untensed so much. He began the rest of the outline then. I'm not going to lie but it was painful, but totally bearable. Some spots I thought I was going to die and others I didn't realize he was tattooing. When the outline was done I smoked a well diserved ciggereatte and went back inside to do the coloring. I decided to have it shaded from a dark blue to a very light blue. Like most people say the coloring hurt more than the outline because he kept going over the same spot and it was getting quite tender. After shading everything he was all done. He cleaned it, and sent me to the mirror. I looked and fell in love. I had my first tattoo! I was so happy with the work, the placement, and the colors. I knew I would love this tattoo till the day I die. He wrapped me in saran wrap and sent me up to the regester. I was surprised when he told me it was only 120.00 dollars. Everything was custom and it had taken about an hour. I gave him a great tip and left a very happy customer.
I'm writing this two days after and my ankle is swollen. It hurts when I walk and touch it but it is tolerable. I clean it three times a day and put tattoo goo on it. I'm starting to peel a tiny bit but the colors are still very vibrant.
I'm extreamly happy with the work I got and I plan on going back for many many more tattoos. I hope this helped anyone who wanted to get a tattoo decide weather or not they want to get theirs. I totally reccomend getting one cause you only live once!!! I recomend Anthony Plaza or anyone else at Darkside Tattoo. I've never seen a piece of work that I didnt like from there. Happy tattooing!
