The idea for a Christina piercing came about in the same way as many other members on BME: I saw the piercing and wanted it! I thought it was very pretty and was ideal for my first genital piercing because of its out-of-the-way placement (I do horse-riding so this was a must for me). I spent ages searching the BME experiences and learning as to how it was done and what to expect.

South Africa The coccyx piercing idea came about from me trying to think up a unique piercing that I'd never seen before. I was lying in bed feeling around as to where I might be able to add a piercing and discovered a dimple at the top of my (for lack of a better term) butt crack. I liked the idea of having a piercing there, and decided to see what I could find online about it. Well, online info was near impossible to find. I found a video on YouTube of a girl getting it done and found names for it on BME (valley, crackhawk and asscrack) but actual how-to was nowhere to be found. The only info I was able to obtain was from a nurse at a nearby medi-clinic and she said to avoid piercing through the dimple itself because it's the end of a type of sinus that needs to drain and piercing through it could cause a blockage, resulting in sepsis.
Anyway, I contacted my good friend and piercer, Craig, to discuss the piercings with him. He was excited to be doing something unusual and came over to take a look at my anatomy so we could decide on the best jewellery for the piercings. It was decided that a Bioplast bar would be good for the Christina (I have a shallow pubic mound, so we wanted to use Bioplast to give the piercing a chance of surviving) and a surface bar for the coccyx piercing. The reason I'm calling it a coccyx piercing is because the piercing lies just above the tip of the coccyx bone, about 1.5cm above the "sinus-dimple".
So it was decided that I would have the piercings done in November (3 months after the initial planning), when my best friend was down from the UK and she could come watch. Also, with surface bars and Bioplast being a bit hard to find in South Africa, she would bring the jewellery with her too.
So, on Monday, November 17, the time had come. I had Kerri (friend from England), Craig (piercer), Ami and Jade (workmates) over to my place. We started off thing with Craig doing a tiny tattoo for Ami and myself doing an eyebrow piercing for her (I learning how to pierce). Jade was there to take photos and videos.
Then came my turn. As soon as Craig said "You're up", my hands started sweating and I had butterflies in my stomach. I dropped my jeans and panties so Craig could mark the spots, then lay down on my bed with my little audience surrounding me. From the BME experiences, I knew my immediate reaction would be for me to close my legs so I had Ami hold them down and open.
I lay there breathing deeply and just getting into my "zone". It was a bit difficult because everyone was cracking jokes and I couldn't relax because I kept laughing. Eventually we all calmed down so I gave Craig the go-ahead and he told me to breathe in and he'd pierce on the exhale. I breathed in and as I started to exhale, he pierced. Well, the language that came from my mouth was astonishing in itself. I have never felt such pain! It felt like a red hot needle is being driving into my genitals and I could feel the needle all the way. I screamed so loud, Kerri started crying! Once it was through though, the pain subsided and Craig put the jewellery through. Thank God for Craig's neat follow-through (and thank God for cannula needles!)
I lay there for a bit just to get over the pain and shock. Then Craig said to turn over so we could do the coccyx. I put a pillow under my hips so as not to snag the Christina on anything and another two pillows under my head. Craig told me to just breathe and relax while he gets all his things in order.
Meanwhile, Kerri darted off outside. My screaming from the Christina had put her off and she really didn't want to watch the second piercing.
Once we were ready (and everyone had stopped cracking jokes about my ass), he had me breathe in deeply and on the exhale, pierced. My butt cheeks clamped together so hard that they ached. The pain was really intense but wider spread than the Christina and it felt 'blunt'. I could feel the needle sliding slowly through the thicker flesh and it hurt! I muffled my yells in the pillow. It took him about 3 seconds to pierce and get the bar in and it was over. He told me I could relax but it took a while for my butt to relax!
I stood up and checked my Christina in the mirror while Jade took photos of my Coccyx so I could see it (yay for digital cameras). The placement for the piercings looked great.
I still need to cut the Bioplast down a bit for the Christina because we originally cut it a bit too long. I've kept up the salt-water cleans and so far there's been no problems. The lymph/crusty build-up on both piercings have been minimal.
The first few days I struggled to bend properly because the coccyx felt bruised (though there wasn't any bruising to see) and a bit tight but by day 3 it felt fine again.
It's been a week now and both piercings look happy. I wore covers on them for the first 6 days to avoid snagging them. I used flat round cotton wool make-up pads secured by surgical tape and changed them twice a day. They allowed the piercing to 'breathe but kept them safe.
I want finish this off by saying thanks to guys of BME for their advice in AskBME and for the most wonderful and informative site. And kudos to Craig for performing his first ever Christina, Coccyx piercing and surface bar installation on me, all in the same day and doing a great job!
