Let's see... well, when I decided on getting a Christina piercing my overall decision was based on a rumor I had heard. I wanted a genital piercing badly (more for me then anyone I was dating at the time), but it was going around that if you got a clit piercing there was a chance you would lose "all feeling down there" and trust me, I was not taking that kind of risk (no matter how slight) anytime soon. I figured that the Christina piercing would be less painful or risky than the clit, considering that the clit is loads more sensitive than the mound of skin on the top of your vagina... and from my experience surface piercings didn't hurt nearly as much. But this is not speaking from experience, I don't know what a clit piercing feels like at all, I'm just basing my thoughts on speculation.

The bar for a christina piercing is shaped oddly, kind of L-shaped (which is typical since it was technically a surface piercing), so my piercer suggested I breathe in each time he pushed an edge through... which helped a lot for me to relax. In the end, it didn't hurt nearly as bad as I had feared. In fact, my tragus piercing had hurt a LOT worse, and so did my rook... which was done the same day. You'd think that it'd be traumatizing to have someone down there so close to your privates with a needle in hand, but strangely I wasn't too concerned about it. If you feel uncomfortable about ANYTHING your piercer is doing or says beforehand he is obviously not being professional about his work and I strongly suggest you find a different piercer.
Strangely it didn't hurt at all a few days after getting it done. I just suggest that you ALWAYS wear underwear while it's healing (especially with tight jeans) and don't be walking around in lacy thongs or anything tight that may catch on the piercing and hurt taking off.
It's probably been about a month and a few days since I had it done. My piercer suggested I clean it by mixing 1 cup of distilled water and 1/4 teaspoon of iodized salt and pouring it into a dixie cup; popping it in the microwave until it is above room temp (but not enough to scald you... I did that before... it sucks), and holding it against yourself for fifteen minutes twice a day. (for a total of 30) It gets boring just sitting on the toilet holding the water to your piercing to let it soak, so I suggest finding a way to keep your mind preoccupied.
I have had sex in the time frame between when I got it pierced, and it hasn't bothered me. Neither does masturbating, my piercer actually told me that "as long as I don't piss it off" masturbating or having sex won't be too much of an issue. So no, if you're smart about it then you won't have to become abstinent for the eight months healing time. The christina isn't actually in a compromising situation to have sex with either. Unless you're boyfriend is ginormous or if the piercing is sore you shouldn't have too much trouble.
I admit that I've been cleaning it only once a day (it gets difficult to find time to do that once you're in college), but it hasn't rejected yet. (remember there is a major difference between affection and infection. If it's merely red with a little pus it's probably only affected. I've mistaken affected piercing for infected before and took them out when they could've probably been salvaged) The only part that really sucks is when the piercing is pushed up and out... then you have to literally push it back through. This can get painful at times. But my piercer had warned me that this may happen, so I'm not too concerned about it.
Normally piercings ooze the white-yellow pus from time to time while healing, but it's very unnerving to see the same gunk around that area. It took a little bit to get used to seeing it, for whenever you push the piercing through it usually is present.
Overall, I think I've made a wise choice in my decision, and would suggest this piercing to anyone. Though check to make sure that your piercing is good at what he does. There is a major difference between "having done something" and to be good at something. Just because someone has done it before doesn't mean they're good at it. Ask to see a portfolio. Also, have them check to make sure you're anatomy is suited for a christina. Those without the proper anatomy for this kind of piercing tend to reject a lot more often than those who are suited.
