It was just yesterday that I got my vertical hood pierced. Literally. The decision was something that was made on the spot. Rather last minute. But then again, most of the piercing I get are generally a spur of the moment, I want it, I have the opportunity , I'll take it.

I had been debating on getting a vertical hood for a while, I did a bit of research, trying to decide if I really wanted a vertical or a triangle, or some other genital piercing. But either way, I hadn't really put my mind to it that I was going to get anything done. But yesterday we went into the shop and began talking to the piercer. The visit was initially intended for buying other jewelry, but after some rather long conversations, he told me that he would do the piercing. For free!

How can anyone possibly pass up a free piercing? I know what you're thinking, "Free? This guy so wasn't legit." But he had his certificates up on the wall and my boyfriend and I asked a lot of questions to make sure he knew what he was doing. So, despite my nerves and that little voice in the back of my head saying "Don't do it!", I prepared myself for yet another piercing. I already had nine holes in my body that weren't there when I was born, what was one more? "Nothing" was the answer to that question, it just took me about thirty minutes to convince myself of that. Ha-ha.

One word of advice for anyone getting this piercing [or any piercing], it is generally a good idea to eat at least a little bit before the procedure. It's been proven that the body deals with pain better with just a bit of food on the stomach. But don't gorge yourself. It's best just to eat a few crackers or some pretzels, rather than an entire meal.

After leaving the shop to get a bit to eat and to clean up a bit [so as not to feel TOO terribly embarrassed], I arrived back. The piercer was rather considerate, waiting for the few people just hanging around the shop to leave so that we could have some privacy.

I was lead back into the room, my heart pounding, and left alone with my boyfriend to get changed and ready. [It was wonderful to have Tyler there for support. I suggest taking someone along to ease the nerves. Also it's good for the actual piercing, having someone's hand to squeeze onto.] It's funny to think that I was attempting to be modest, pulling my shirt down to cover my genitals, when he was about to spread my legs and pierce my most intimate places. Ha-ha.

After getting situated he proceeded to clean off everything, with rubbing alcohol I think, and prop my legs up on a set of stirrups. It was rather refreshing to see that the chair/bed was professional enough to actually have stirrups for my legs, which also made things a lot more comfortable.

I was ridiculously nervous, but I wasn't about to back down. I wouldn't have been able to live myself down if I had backed out of something like that. My adrenaline was coursing through my body like no other.

The part that took the longest was positioning the receiving tube. We had put A&D on the area to clean it and so the tube kept slipping around, but after a few moments, that was done and it was time to bear down and get poked. So I grabbed my boyfriend's hand and took a few deep breaths, trying to calm my nerves and prepare myself. He did the same procedure that most piercers do, the whole "Deep breath in, Out, pierce". I won't lie, it hurt. A lot. I was swept with a bit of nausea, but after the first initial shock, it was over rather quickly. I think it was just my body's personal reaction, I tend to get very shaky and my stomach gets a bit shaky. But after I screamed a little "Oh my God! Ow!", it was funny how right afterwards, feeling the barest throbbing and wondering how the pain could have subsided so quickly.

Now I have a beautiful stainless steel barbell in my hood and I LOVE the look of it. Already I've been able to feel a bit of stimulation just cleaning it and I can't wait to see what it's like to have sex once it's healed. It's looking like it's going to be a really wonderful piercing, most of the soreness is already gone, I'm really looking forward to the rest of it to get lost so I can have me some fun. Hehe.

It's definitely a piercing worth the slight pain and nerves. :]
