I've been wanting to get a hood piercing for years. This is how I've been with all my piercings... I think about it for a long time, put it off, think about it some more, try to talk myself out of it, and then finally go for it.

Late last night I decided to go for it. As i was driving to the studio that I've had work done at before, I noticed that two other shop on the way were already closed (It was about 11:00pm). I was happy that my shop was still open, but there was only one guy working. There is a woman who is there also, and I was hoping for her to do it, but he was the only one there. I almost put it off and was going to ask if she'd be there tomorrow, but I convinced myself that I was trying to find a loophole to chicken out again. He was finishing a tattoo, and said to come back in about an hour.

So I show up and wait about another 15 minutes. This was good, because it relaxed me a bit. It was very awkward getting undressed in front of him, but once I was on the table and he was looking at me to see what would work, it had a more 'medical' feel and wasn't so bad.

I'm not sure what he was doing down there, but it ranged from being uncomfortable to hurting, and he wasn't even piercing yet. Apparently I have a very small hood, and a not very pronounced clit, and he said he was having trouble finding it, and figuring out where to put the jewelry. At this point I again thought I should wait and see the woman piercer, but figured I was already this far in. At one point he even was asking me if I could feel that he was in the right spot and if that was my clit (this wasn't in a creepy, inappropriate way, more of a "I'm totally lost" question). Again, not a terribly reassuring sign, but I told him just to do it (in hind sight I should have participated more, but I was in freaked out mode) I guess it was a clamp of some sort that he put on, and it hurt enough that I thought he had done the piercing. I think it's mostly because I'm so small, and my bits were being stretched more than they'd like. I was very nervous and tensed up as he wa s doing this, and when he actually pierced me it hurt pretty badly for about 4 or 5 seconds. I think I almost kicked him, but for sure pulled one leg up and rocked away from him on the table. I probably should have brought someone with me for moral support. He asked me too look at it and touch it to make sure it was hitting in the right spot (again, not in a dirty way, he just seemed unsure) and I said it was fine, even thought it looked way too high up, just because there was no way I was going to have him re-do it right then.

I don't feel it when I'm walking, but if I bend forward I get a sharp pinch where the upper ball is. I'm sure it's not in the right spot. It's maybe 1/8" above my clit, and the upper end of the straight bar exits through the thicker part, well above the thinner hood skin. It still has a little bleeding, but nothing bad. I have looked at it and can't tell if it's under the hood and everything's just really tight, or if he somehow managed to insert the bar IN the hood skin, all the way through (that's more like what it felt like when he was doing it).

I'm debating going in today and having another one of the piercers take a look to get a second opinion. I'm wavering between being concerned and thinking I'm just being paranoid. I think I"ll wait a few days and see how it feels, since the tenderness might just be part of the fact that I've only had it for 10 hours!!

I don't think I had a very good experience, but honestly as far as pain goes, though it was sharp and intense for a few seconds, it was totally over and gone when it was done... nothing at all afterwards- no throbbing/burning/anything like that. As I sit now, I can't feel it unless I lean forward. Again, I think mine is too high though so this probably isn't typical.

Best of luck, and I'd say research your piercer and make sure they know what they're doing first!! I think the guy who did mine just really didn't know where everything was on me. I guess it's not totally his fault, I think my anatomy makes it more complicated.
