I do not have very many piercings. I have had my ears done a few times (mostly by myself) and I had my nipples done. Personally, I would like to get a few more piercings done. I think the ones that I MUST get are: snakebites, a triangle piercing and an eyebrow piercing. Possibly eyebrow, and the nostril.

For the past few weeks I have really wanted a hood piercing, and like most of you I have been reading about many experiences in piercings. I did not know much information on the hood piercings, and then decided that I needed the Vertical hood piercing. I like how it looks, It sure is pretty and serves not only the function of looking nice, but can be sexually stimulating as well. How cool! I needed it!
I decided to research how it much it would cost, and where I could get it done. I called around a few piercing studios, then I went in to check them out and make sure they were up to my standards. I was quoted prices ranging from 40-about 75$ for the vertical hood piercing. Not too bad. Something that I can definably afford, and I was excited to get it done. Next, I decided to check out some piercing kits on EBay. After a few hours of research and contemplation I decided to just go for it and ordered a vertical hood piercing kit from an EBay seller w/outstanding selling scores and experience. It cost 24.99 plus a few bucks in shipping. Total price was just about 30$. I was very pleased and excited.
The hood piercing kit arrived in the mail after about 4 days. I was very pleasantly and surprised when I opened it up and checked it out. It came with everything in the listing ranging from gloves, needle, barbell, and all the piercing accessories. It even came with about 8 extra banana barbells. They were all very pretty, and all the items were high quality and easy to use.
It only took me two days it took to muster up the courage to get my boyfriend to do the piercing for me! I was very nervous and excited. I got the kit, washed up and went to the bed to lay down for the procedure. :) After I laid down on the bed and just continued anxiously waiting. While I waited, my boyfriend got everything carefully situated for the piercing, I laid down even more nervously, but mostly excitedly. More and more by the moment.
Finally the time came to start! He measured my hood with the q-tip thing. And that assured that size of my hood would work for the vertical hood piercing. Then he inserted the receiving tube very gently and carefully (I told him i read that could be very painful from my research), so he was gentle with that! I hurt a bit, but not horribly bad. Next it was time to pierce me up! Before I knew it was time to pierce!
I'm not going to lie, it sure did hurt. I did not hurt way too much, just a bit. It took a couple seconds, then it was all over. I remember I said "ouch Daniel! That fucking hurts!" while he pierced me, but that was it. I am just a complainer. Not horrible pain, just enough to tell him it hurt. I did not think the hood piercing was even close to hurting as bad as getting my nipples pierced. I must say getting my nipples done hurt, but not horribly. In fact, now I want the triangle piercing. I think its addicting. And sexy and very PRETTY.
Anyways, back to the piercing. The needle part was done, yay! It was a 12 gage needle, and the needles have holes that u insert the barbell into. So, next my boyfriend slid the barbell into the hole in the needle. Once it was all set up he put the jewelry in, next put the balls on the barbell and I was all done.
It was sure fancy. It has been 3 days. My hood is just a little bit swollen, yet it is not painful at all. It is really pretty. If I had to do it again for some reason, i would in a heartbeat. I love it.
One piece of advice I have for EVERYBODY: When you are doing any type of self piercing (anything) make sure the needle is 1 or 2 gages bigger than the gage of the barbell or hoop. That will insure that you will be able to insert the jewelry into the needle. It will take away most the complication on figuring out how to get the stupid jewelry into the hole. This is a huge problem that I have encountered several times with my ear piercings.
just so all of you know, self piercing can be dangerous. I really recommend going to a professional. This can be a bad thing, and too much can go wrong. I have had some bad self piercing experiences in the past.
