My whole body piercing journey started only about 3 months ago when looking on the net I saw some images of pierced 'bits and pieces' and was intrigued, upon discussing this with my husband I found he was also intrigued about the piercing. I read lots of stories and looked at lots of web sites and decided I should be brave and go for it. Now I am what I would class a 'good girl' I am a health professional and to most people very straight laced – not the sort of girl to get genital piercing done, any piercing for that fact!!

Well Hubbie and I decided to start with an inner labia and we did that one our selves (joint effort) at home, we used Emla numbing cream and an 18g needle I got from work, that went well and I was very happy with the result. Next whilst on holiday in Australia I got both my nipples done professionally also using emla cream – not that it helped much as they HURT! But as my nipples were fully inverted, and now stick out and are very sensitive I am very very happy with the result (as is hubbie!).

Well... I had no idea how addictive this whole piercing thing can get! I spent many hours looking on the net at images and my next obsession was the idea of a vertical clitoral hood (VCH). I looked on many web sites and read lots of stories doing my research. My sister's boyfriend who has a few facial piercings recommended 'flesh wound' to me, and I looked at their site. Flesh wound only did piercing, and other scary stuff, but not tattooing and was well recommended. Hamish, the piercer, seemed to have a lot of experience so I emailed him and asked a few questions – do they have private piercing rooms, do they use a receiving tube, what's his recommendations on emla cream etc... he was answered all my questions, recommended no emla cream saying it can make the tissue shrink and result in a piercing that is not quite in the right place, I decided to trust him and made an appointment.

Wellington is about 2 hours south of where I live so it was to be a day trip especially. I was nervous as hell but did as Hamish recommended, ate an hour before and took two nurofen tablets. My husband came with me and my sister baby sat for us which was great of her. It might sound silly but I think I was more nervous of removing my pants in front of a stranger than the pain! But I went in to the shop and it was quite nice and clean looking and Hamish and the guy working on the till seemed nice, normal (as I was worried they would freak me out) and professional. I filled out the forms, chose a cute little diamante ball and paid $150.00

I watched Hamish opening everything from sterile packets and set up his tray of 'tools'. I was surprised by the rush of adrenalin and dropped my pants without too much concern. Hamish had me sit in a kind of dental chair with 'leg supports', he moved the chair up till my clit was right in his line of view – I was really surprised now looking back on it that I was totally comfortable with the whole thing, Hamish was so professional that I was not worried at all. He spent a bit of time cleaning the area then marking it, which he re did a few times till he was happy with it, I was pleased he was so fussy about getting the placement right. He measured me up and chose to use a 8mm curved bar. He re gloved then told me what he was going to do, explaining each step to me and my husband. He placed the receiving tube in place which felt ok and then had me take a few deep breaths and on 3 he pierced it, it was fine, hurt like for a second and it was over! Another deep breath and the jewellery was in place and done! It looks great and I am so happy with it all.

Hamish gave me the after care instructions and said it could bleed a little but should heal in 2 weeks or so. Well it's only been 2 days but I have not had any bleeding or pain really, it's a bit sore when I clean it and move the jewellery but that's understandable at this early stage. I am looking forward to it being healed, as is the husband! Now I am already thinking about what I can get done next but I have strict rules from the hubbie saying I am not allowed any facial piercings (which is ok as I would not get that done as I have a professional image to keep up), so any suggestions welcome!
