Well after about 5 years of wanting to do this I finally did and boy am I glad!! I had previously done both my ears myself and this is what I would consider my first "real" body piercing. I ordered all of my supplies and had my boyfriend who is a nurse actually do the piercing for me. We both researched the process very thoroughly before even considering do this at home. After much research since both of us are medically trained we decided to go for it. However, I would not recommend self piercing or having someone who is untrained pierce you.

The worst part about the procedure was the insertion of the receiving tube...I really didn't like that feeling at all. It stung like hell and was just very uncomfortable. Once we got the tube it he took another look at the mark to make sure the piercing was going to look right and be deep enough as I want to go to at least a 4g. Now it was time to do it. He lined up the needle and the receiving tube and tried to get the needle through. Unfortunately, he had trouble getting the needle in the tube for some reason. He kept pushing the needle and finally got it into the tube. I really didn't like that very much. It didn't hurt terribly bad, but it wasn't pleasurable either. Once the needle went in and the jewelry was in all pain stopped. I really hate to call it pain since it was more like a sting or slight burning sensation. However, after the piercing I was extremely dizzy and almost passed out twice. I think it was because of the drop in my insulin or something since I was ble eding quite a bit at that point. I actually do that whenever I have blood drawn at the doctor, too. I had some cookies and drank some water and in about 15 minutes I was fine.

It's been about 2 1/2 weeks and the crusties are very minimal now. I don't think I had any yesterday. Sea Salt soaks twice daily and a good washing with anti-bacterial soap once daily and it's healing wonderfully. Bleeding stopped after about 48 hours. The first 24 it bled quite a bit but then just some minor spotting and finally nothing at all. I had some minor bruising and a little soreness for about 5 days and nothing since. Starting two days before we did the piercing and since I've been drinking A LOT of water. I think this has helped since it's caused me to urinate a lot which has helped to keep the wound clean and help speed along the healing process. Urination has been the issue that has caused me the most aggravation. I am just so paranoid that I will have an accident trying to use urinals. I have been fortunate so far though. It's much safer to just sit and do it, but sometimes you can't. I found that by putting my hand under my penis while urinating I can block the stream that comes off the ring from getting on my pants. I know it's a little gross, but it works and of course I was my hands when I'm done.

I did have a little trouble with the ring I initially used though. It was a 3/4 Circular Barbell and the balls on it were quite small. Last week it started turning and would almost rotate all the way out. I got scared that it would get caught on my undies or something and might rip out. I went to a local piercer and asked about changing the jewelry. I had no soreness or anything and he said it should be alright. All he had was a 1/2 in. 8g CBR so I bought it since it was large enough that I should be able to eliminate the problem I was having and hoped that it would go in. Once I got home I sterilized it while having a sea salt soak. After the soak out came the old ring and in went the new 8g. I was amazed that it went in after only being pierced for 2 weeks!!! So far I couldn't ask for a better experience and my boyfriend LOVES IT!!! I'm so glad that I finally did it! I especially like the fact that sometimes I get these impulses that I can only describe as a minor electrica l like current that shoots through the head of my penis from the jewelry all the way up the shaft...it's a very odd sensation and I assume it's from the piercing since I've never had them before. I also have been having the most intense orgasms...and shoot like a canon!!! I waited about 5 days before having an orgasm as I wanted it to have some time to heal before I did. We then waited until after the 2 week mark to have sex because I wanted to minimalize the risk of possible infection. As soon as I was done another sea salt soak and rinse with anti-bacterial soap and all was good with the world. So far no signs of infection or anything. I couldn't be happier. This is AMAZING!!!!
