I am just an average male 6' 4" tall, 210 lbs. Not really into the modification scene but have always loved the look of piercings, but was always too scared to get one. This piercing experience all started when I was a Freshman in high school.

I made the varsity team as a Freshman and I traveled all over with a really good team. At one swim meet I saw a guy with his nipples pierced and this really grabbed my attention. They looked so cool. The swim meet went on and after the meet we hit the showers. Here this guy showered right next to me and I couldn't help but see that he had his penis pierced. It looked so natural and I knew I needed one.
Since I was just 16 years old I knew no professional studio would do it with parental permission, although I bet my dad would have taken me. I was too scared to ask him and I decided to do it myself. I bought a large 10 gauge curved barbell ring and I went to a cattle feed store and bought an 8 gauge needle. I could wait to get home and decorate my penis. I was so excited.
When I got home, it was about 8 pm and I knew I would have to do it fast because i had swim practice at 5 am and I needed my sleep. I told my parents I didn't feel well and I headed to my room. I laid out a towel with all my tools and headed to the bathroom to clean my penis. I used the best soap I could find and made sure I didn't touch anything on my way back to my room. I was ready and I laid down on the bed to do the task. I took out my penis, grabbed the needle and with one deep breath I pushed it in and my penis was pierced. It bled a little and I took my time putting the ring in. I had done it and my penis looked perfect.
The next day I went to practice after a very painful first pee. I didn't realize how much the water and the movement would hurt but I pushed through the pain. I took about two months for my piercing to heal and I was very lucky I didn't get an infection because of the tools and the swimming.
I took it easy and didn't play with it for about a month and the first time I did it felt great but was very painful. The swim team didn't get a glance at it until our first meet after Christmas break because I always swam late and showered last. But when they did get a glimps, they were shocked and very interested.
About the guy that inspired me. We actually got to know each other fairly well and he and I always compared our gauges every time we sized up. He was shocked that he actually got me to get my own, and actually I was shocked I got my own too.
It has been almost 3 years since then and I now have a large 4 gauge ring hanging low from my now perfect penis. Do not regret this piercing at all. It feels great and looks even better. After my friends saw it two of them decided to get one for their 18th birthday(mine looks better than theirs though.) And to my surprise, when my dad saw it for the first time he had to pull his pants down and show me his! His is a 00 gauge and looks great, someday I will up the size and show my dad up.
I talked to my dad about how it came about and he told me he wished I would have asked to go to a studio but he was glad I got one. He told me he would keep it a secret from mom because my dad said when she found out my older brother got one (my dad paid and took him) for his 18th birthday, she flipped out. He said she really doesn't like them but she's not the one wearing it so I guess she can stay quiet.
If you are thinking about getting one, do it! You will love it. Make sure you find a clean professional studio though because do it yourself piercings are very risky and I was very luck with my experience. I would also advise you start with a smaller gauge, mine was a little large in the beginning and the weight made it harder for my penis to heal. LOVE the PA!
