I wasn't aware of the "receiving tube". I had assumed that the needle would be inserted through the urethra and pierce the penis form the inside out; in the video, the direction of the needle was reversed – the needle pierced the penis from the outside, was somehow was "captured" by the tube, and then exited through the urethra. (I am not sure if I totally understand the mechanics since I did not watch while mine was being pierced...)
I committed to having getting a PA shortly before a business trip. I looked up piercing studios on the internet, learned that there were three or four close to where my hotel was located, and decided to check it out. I called the studio, made an appointment, and took a taxi directly from the airport to the studio.
Billy, the guy who would perform the procedure, showed me pictures of other PA's, and answered my questions... I decided to go for it. Within five minutes of arriving, he escorted me to the "room", and told me to sit down.
I watched while he arranged the apparatus. I could see the jewelry, the receiving tube, the needle, beta dine, etc... He could tell I was nervous and did what he could to help me relax. I could hear loud music playing from outside the room.
Then he told me to drop my pants. I unzipped and sat down... He told me the receiving tube would probably feel "funny"; a gross understatement... Despite what I had read about this part of the process, I found it very unpleasant... (Some guys claim they experience only minor discomfort; I thought it was terrible!) He asked, "Are you OK?", etc... After one false start, he got it inserted, and I breathed a sigh of relief...
Then he said he was going to do the actual piercing... After a deep breath, he did it. And yeah, it hurt. But like the nipple piercing, it was over fast. Then he inserted the jewelry, a 10g Captive Bead Ring, and it was done.
There was a small amount of blood; he wrapped up my penis and covered the bandage with a rubber glove. He suggested I use condoms until the bleeding subsided; fortunately, he had one with him, which he gave me. (Later that night, I remembered I had some in my suitcase...)
Billy instructed me on aftercare, told me that urine is actually good for a PA, and said to wait a while before having sex. Masturbation, he told me, I could do as soon as I felt comfortable... I thought it was really cool of him to mention that. I don't know about your experience, but I have not had occasion to discuss masturbation with many straight men... (Gay men, on the other hand, me included, seem to have no issue discussing it... J)
He said it might bleed for a few days; however, I was not prepared for this. When my nipple was pierced, there were a few drops, but nothing big. So I expected the same with the PA. An hour after my PA was completed, I "took a look" and there was a lot of blood. It bled a good bit the first day, some the next day, and very little after that. When I saw the blood the first time, I wondered if I had made a big mistake... I have since decided, fortunately, that I had not.
For some guys, the process itself is something they recall with pleasure; I cannot say I am one of those guys. It was something to endure, and I am glad it's over. I have chatted on occasion with guys are who are interested in "sounds"; for the life of me, I cannot imagine getting any pleasure from this if it is anything like the receiving tube, but to each his own!
I have had my PA for four days as I write this. I am anxious for it to heal so I "can take it for a ride"... It will be interesting to see how long I will be able to wait before at least masturbating...
At the moment, I don't have plans to get anything else pierced. I thought the same thing after I got my ear pierced years ago, and again after my nipple was pierced... I guess time will tell. Who knows what's next?
