A PA!!??! What a scary thought, letting someone jab a needle through my favorite and arguably most important body part. What ever would possess me to do that? Well, whatever the cause, I have been possessed. About four years ago when I came to school, I was introduced to genital piercing. Seems that it was the "in" thing to do for the guys on the cycling team. The idea intrigued me, but the thought never occurred to me that nothing was stopping me from getting a PA of my own.

Once I realized that nothing was stopping me from getting pierced, I knew that the first big thing would be to get my nipples done. Sure, I had my earlobe done when I was 17, but that's nothing. My experience with my nipples was pretty standard, and I have only good things to say about the whole deal. I had them done by Ben at Loonar Piercing in Hadley. Ben's a great guy, and as he was prepping me for my nipple piercings, he related the stories of his self-done PA, and how it had hurt less than his own nipple piercings. I left with that thought in mind. When my nipples were healed, that thought resounded in my head. If getting a PA hurt less than a nipple piercing, surely I would get it done.

Discovering BME was pretty much the clincher. I was suddenly able to do research and read other first hand accounts confirming that a PA is more or less a "no sweat" piercing. After three weeks of hemming and hawing, I went down to Loonar on a Sunday to make an appointment for the following Wednesday. Talk about some anxious days in between! Wednesday comes around, and I am ready! My appointment is not until 5, but I am anxious all day. When the phone rings at 2, and it's Ben calling to see if I can reschedule, my heart drops. I would have to wait a whole 24 hours—and one more anxious night. So now it's Thursday, and I'm even more anxious. I waste the entire day looking at the clock and trying to make it speed up. Finally it is time. My friend Joseph acted as chauffeur because I didn't know how much driving I'd want to do after.

When we get to Loonar, Ben is finishing up with someone else. So we sit and wait. And wait. That had to be the longest fifteen minutes ever, but finally the time came. Ben asked if my friend wanted to watch. That kinda threw me for a loop, but I didn't really mind, so I said sure. Then Ben asks if his friend can watch, since he's also thinking of getting a PA. Sure, why not, let's make an event of it.

We entered the piercing room, and I took a seat. Ben ran down the procedure for me, and I knew that it was time. We decided on a ¾" 10ga CBR. I lay on my back and dropped my pants. I was impressed when I was provided with a surgical napkin and a hole for my unit. Actually getting my pants down was awkward, because I was wearing tightey whiteys, which I'd read to wear after getting pierced. Ben prepped me for what seemed forever. I didn't know what to expect with the receiving tube, but damn it was uncomfortable! It was certainly the worst part. No one had told me this, but in addition to hurting, the receiving tube really makes you think you have to pee. I was worried that I was going to squirt all over my friend. Ben decided that he had to go slightly to the left of my frenum, which would supposedly save me some big time pain and decrease difficulty of aftercare.

Once everything was lined up, it was a simple matter of a big exhale and OUCH! Yeah, it hurt, but only for a fraction of a second. I think the scariest thing was seeing a 10ga needle poking out of my urethra. I didn't even notice the jewelry being inserted, but I had a brief start when I saw Ben grab the pliers. I was so out of it that I couldn't figure why he was reaching for my joint with pliers, it took me a second to realize that they were used to close the CBR. I get bandaged up, and am surprised that I feel nothing.

Aftercare instructions and I pay up. Simple as that. The first pee was anti-climactic, as it didn't hurt at all. Aftercare has been a whiz (ha ha ha) and I am really happy with the piercing. Loonar is one of the best shops in Massachusetts, and I highly recommend them. If you're worried about getting a PA, do a little research and you'll find a repeated theme—it is an awesome piercing! I really like that I have such a cool piercing that isn't outwardly visible, it's a good feeling when I go out and see people with many piercings and think "Mine is cooler, and you don't even know!" I can't wait to actually try it out.
