Ever since I first started to take an interest in body piercing a couple of years ago (when had my first piercing - my left nipple) I've had thoughts of having my cock pierced. As I'm sure many BME readers will be aware, it's usually not too long before such fleeting thoughts become urges which just have to be acted upon!

Something about genital piercings simultaneously attracted me (I think they look amazing and I could only imagine how good a well-placed piercing may feel) and scared me (What if it goes wrong somehow? What if sex is never the same again?). It was clearly going to take time to consider the options and to prepare myself for such an experience. In the meantime I paid homage to the gods of piercing by having a number of other piercings done: inverse navel, an ear cartilege, septum, right nipple and finally a regular navel piercing to complement the inverse one. All these piercings (except the ear cartilege) were performed at 14ga but after a while I began to lust for more metal so set about stretching them. At the time of writing my nipples are 6ga, and the navel, inverse navel and septum are all 8ga. During the last couple of years I've spent many hours reading the male piercing section of BME, asking questions on rec.arts.bodyart and considering the possibilities of genital piercing. Since I am uncut (which is not that common in North America) I had a lot of questions regarding jewellry choice and suitability of the piercing. I encourage anyone considering this to do their research first!

By August of 1999 I had decided I definately wanted to get a PA - the only problem was convincing my girlfriend, who was somewhat sceptical about the idea. We discussed the pros and cons of a PA on several occasions - she had a number of valid concerns. I think her main worry was that it may change not feel good for her. I hope that she is able to enjoy it also (the jury is still out on that at the time of writing). She was also concerned that the healing time may be protracted and that there may be an extended period of celibacy!

At this point I should explain that I'm a submissive and my girlfriend is my dominant. I was very keen to have my PA done more or less immediately (in late August) but was happy to defer the decision to her. She decided that I could have the PA performed, but it should be on Halloween - October 31.

The two month wait was somewhat agonizing. Having decided on the PA I found it hard to keep my mind off the subject. While waiting I did a little more research and talked to the people at Stainless Studios in Toronto (most of my piercings have been done at Stainless Studios, and I'm very happy with them).

I eventually decided on an 8ga initial piercing. I didn't want to start with too small a gauge since it is widely reported that anything smaller than 10ga can be rather painful. I considered a 6ga initial piercing but ended up deciding on the 8ga since I already had some spare 1" 8ga CBRs left over from my last nipple stretch.

The day before Halloween my girlfriend and I held a party. She had told a couple of her close friends about the proposed PA. I spent quite a lot of time that evening answering questions on the procedure, on healing, on 'why would you want to do that' and so on. I think all the discussion of the procedure was a little unsettling - I prefer to forget about needles and pain until I'm in the chair when it's too late. I may be a sub, but I'm not a pain-slut!

I had made an appointment with Tom Brazda at Stainless Studios at 3pm on Halloween (Sunday). We duly arrived a little early to allow time for the 8ga CBR I was bringing with me to be autoclaved. The new apprentice had forgotten to turn on the autoclave when the studio opened at 12 noon, so we had an unscheduled one hour wait, during which time we went out for a quick late lunch.

The actual procedure was relatively uneventful. Tom had already set out all the tools required - ring opening and closing pliers, a needle receiving tube, the autoclaved CBR, the 8ga needle itself, some hibiclens and some lube in a sealed package. Everything was in autoclave bags as it should be. I should add that Stainless Studios keep their piercing rooms in pristine and spotless condition.

I unbuttoned my pants and lay back on the chair (an old dentist chair is used for this purpose). I have to admit to being very nervous - it is a sobering thought to know that someone is about to push a large needle through a very sensitive part of your anatomy. Part of you is saying 'you can stop this at any moment and get up and walk out of here'. Another part of you knows how much you want the piercing and how long you've considered it - if you chicken out now you know you'll be sitting in the same chair next week instead! However, just the sight on the needle made my cock shrink smaller than I've ever seen it! Tom's 'bedside manner' is great though and he made me feel as comfortable as possible under the circumstances.

Tom cleaned the area of the piercing with hibiclens and marked the entrance hole with a sharpie. He warned me that the insertation of the NRT into my urethra may hurt a little. The NRT itself looked huge, but it didn't hurt as much as I had expected as it slid inside.

After that everything is a little bit of a blur for 30 seconds. I can't remember if Tom asked if I was ready, or whether he just went ahead. I do recall that the pain was much greater than I had imagined. I found having my nipples pierced extremely painful and I think the PA was worse. Everything I had read suggested that a PA piercing wasn't too painful. I found myself gripping the arms of the chair with white knuckles. I guess I'm just a big wimp.

As with all piercings, the pain was over as soon as it had begun and I could relax again. I assured Tom that I wasn't about to pass out (I always seem to have to reassure piercers that I'm not about to faint). I took the opportunity to look down at my cock with the needle entering at the base of the glans and exiting from the urethra. It was quite a site - perhaps I should have brought a camera!

The insertation of the jewellry wasn't too painful, and within a minute or two Tom was taping a surgical glove over the area to prevent any bleeding from soiling my underwear. Most piercings don't bleed, but PAs certainly do.

Tom told me that the piercing procedure may have been more painful since it was performed at 8ga. Also, since I'm uncut the whole area is more sensitive since it's not frequently exposed.

Tom cautioned me to drink lots of water (lots of pee helps rapid healing, since it's basically sterile saline) and to not drink fruit juice (acidity will sting in a fresh piercing). He told me that the bleeding should stop within 4 days - usually it stops and then starts again after a couple days as the tissue around the piercing stretches and the piercing becomes less tight. The cleaning regime for a PA is the same as for other piercings - wash twice a day with anti-bacterial soap, soak off any crusties and rotate the ring through the piercing, rinse well. It's a good idea to pee after cleaning the piercing to wash any excess soap out of the urethra.

Immediately after the piercing I found walking a little difficult, but there was no serious pain. Healing seems to be proceeding very rapidly - the bleeding stopped after about 12 hours, and briefly resumed a couple of days later. Although still a little sore, I was able to have sex a little more than 24 hours after the initial piercing. I'm confident that it'll be fully healed in little over a month.

I've yet to really evaluate how the PA will perform sexually, but initial indications are that it feels very pleasant indeed. I'm certainly delighted with the way it looks! I think the 1" diameter of the CBR I used was perhaps a little large. I'm planning on stretching to 2ga eventually, so I'll probably take the opportunity to move to a 3/4" or 5/8" ring as I stretch.

I'm not sure what's next for me as far as body modifications go. I'd like to get a couple of scrotal piercings, and some more ink once I settle on a design I know is right for me. I do recommend the PA though - it's worth enduring the brief extreme pain for something that I'm sure will give me many years of pleasure.
