I then added an ampallang, and finally I turned my PA into an apadravya. Placement and healing were always problemless (I'd say much 'easier' then many other piercings I have or have had). When the apadravya was still a PA, it was stretched to something between 0 G and 2 G (about 7 mm). The apadravya was then pierced at 10 G, and a few months ago I had it stretched to 8 G at Wildcat in Antwerp by a pro. The PA part did shrink a bit over time, but was still considerably larger then the apadravya bit. The ball of the barbell would even regularly 'disappear' in the PA hole.
So I decided to continue stretching the Apadravya. I had never tried to do it myself (contrary to an ampallang stretch attempt, which was not successful because of the pain). So the decision was: stretch myself the ampallang from 8 G to 6 G. And while working there, why not try and stretch the Ampallang too ? I decided I was going to give it a go again, to go from 6 to 4 G at the same time for the ampallang. Can you still follow ?
The bigger plan:
I like piercings to be stretched. I'm not a big fan of real big stretching (bigger then 0 G), maybe except in earlobes, and with a short tunnel in it. My 'ideal size' is somewhere around 4 G. This is also what I got for nipples, guiche, ... in the past. I'm not really planning to go bigger after I get the apadravya later this year to 4 G. The ampallang will stay at 4 G. One of the reasons is that they both pass through the urethra, and I need the urine still to pass somehow. Unless I can have a special set of barbells made to order with a whole in the middle. But I've never seen or heard of such a jewel.
Preparation:
I had bought via the internet a set of good quality barbells of 30 mm long, both in 6 G (for the apadravya) and 4 G (for the ampallang). To be honest, I had already forgot I had bought those, with all my plans to do it at a shop in town. But talking to a friend the day before yesterday I realised that most shops do not necessarily stock barbells in the correct length and diameter, which refreshed my memory and send me searching my 'secret' bedroom cupboard where I keep my piercing stuff.
So I found there and elsewhere :
- EMLA crème
- some Xylocaine gel,
- Isobetadine gel
- a tapering tube up to 6 G and one up to 4 G
- a digital calliper to check diameters
- paper tissues
- painkillers (paracetamol 1000 mg)
- anti-inflammatory drugs (ibuprofen 600 mg)
- lots of courage and plenty of time
Cleaning:
The 2 barbells and the 2 tapering tubes were cleaned, boiled, and soaked in Isobetadine. For the pros amongst you : this does not constitute a full or real sterilisation, I immediately agree, but I thought that for a mild stretching of well healed existing piercings this would be 'clean enough'.
Do it yourself ?
Yes, this time I did it myself. Needless to say that in case of doubt one should consult a pro piercer to help stretching. But having had lots of piercings, most stretched to about 4 G or 6 G, I consider myself experienced enough to do it.
The inspection before the procedure :
The 2 existing barbells were covered with some calcium deposit. I do clean them regularly but they keep getting this, and more aggressive cleaning would require me taking them out, and I prefer never to remove piercings for more then 1 second, being afraid that the canal would close a bit.
The 2 barbells both go through the urethra. The ampallang is most to the top, and about 6 mm lower is the apadravya.
There is some mucosa of the ampallang canal that protrudes to the exterior on the right, like a blowout.
I'm sitting on an IKEA chair in my well-lit bathroom, on a white towel, completely naked and relatively relaxed. Opposite is a second chair, with another clean white towel, and everything I need. The sun is shining, and through the roof window I see the trees gently moving in the summer wind. It is a calm summer day, and in the background I have some Uzbek soft pop music (I bought some CD's there when I was on holiday, but I don't speak the language. I'm alone at home (as always), and I have plenty of time. I feel clean because I just took a long bath.
The procedure: (1) some xylocaine
I wash my hands again, pull back the foreskin, spray some disinfecting spray based on chlorhexidine, and apply EMLA to the outside of the penis. Inside the urethra I apply some xylocaine gel. I wish I had more of this gel, to use on the inside and outside, but the packaging is empty. So I even dare to use EMLA on the inside. This normally not recommended (the concentration of xylocaine is I think higher, to penetrate the skin, contrary to the xylocaine gel for urethral (mucosal) applications). I know all about possible side effects when the body absorbs too much xylocaine, but the amounts I use are relatively small and I'm a big boy.
For other piercings I normally avoid all use of numbing products, but the pain involved in genital stretching is just too intense to do without.
Intermezzo:
I eat a bar of real good Belgian chocolate. This will give me the energy needed to continue.
The procedure: (2) apadravya stretch
I remove the apadravya barbell while sliding in at the same time the taper (6 G). It goes in halfway without problems. I inserted it in the narrow part (not the 'wide' PA part). I need quite some force to get it through. I'm in great pain, and start worrying I'm again not courageous enough to do this myself. I pause a bit, listen to the music, and apply an extra dose of EMLA. The xylocaine gel is empty, so I throw that away. The barbell is out, the taper in, and I grasp the head of the penis with one hand, very firmly, inhale deep, and push further. The pain is even more intense, but I manage to come loose from it, I have this feeling of 'it has to be done, there is no stopping, keep pushing, you're not allowed to breath before you're through'. I then get the thicker barbell and it follows the taper without problems. The pain rapidly calms down. The procedure itself did take about 6 minutes. There is no blood. I get a minor erection. I feel proud I now have a 6 G apadravya.
The procedure: (3) ampallang stretch
The previous procedure wasn't easy, but still easier then I was afraid it would be. So I decided to profit from all the endorphins already in my body, and all of the emla and xylocaine already present around the penile glans, and continue with the ampallang stretch to 4 G. Because I just know it will be painful afterwards I already take 1000 mg of paracetamol. I remove the existing 6 G barbell, pushing it with the 4 G taper. Because there is a lot of friction, I apply generously vaseline gel, and a triple dose of EMLA cream all over the place. It requires again quite some force and it is once again very painful. Not the type of pain that makes you want to cry or scream, but absolutely the limit of what I can do myself. It takes again about 6 minutes to get completely through. I make slide the 4 G barbell in the taper, which is just a little bit wider so that's easy. I push completely through with the barbell, and at the end there is suddenly less friction but more pain. When the barbell is in, I put on the 8 mm ball, and try and relax. This time the pain doesn't calm down really. I see that the small mucosal rim that protruded is under a lot of tension (it is white and has a small tear in it, with just half a drop of blood on it).
The first hour after the stretches:
The pain is horrible. Nothing I can't handle, but still not a pain that should continue too long. Because the whole penis is a bit swollen I decide to take a painkiller with anti-inflammatory action (2 Ibuprofen of 600 mg). I know that I will start regretting what I did and spend a horrible afternoon if I don't get the pain down fast and efficiently, so I ad Tramadol 100 mg. I then apply a lot of EMLA cream, a lot of Isobetadine gel, and I put on my briefs. That doesn't feel OK, so I let the penis hang half out of the briefs, while I clean up the bathroom. There is no extra blood, no erection, just pain.
The second hour:
That's now, while I'm typing this. The pain is a lot better, as expected with the mega doses of painkillers I took. Just a word of warning : I'm a big boy (length and weight) and I have a lot of experience with painkillers, so I know what I'm doing. But I agree I'm quite 'liberal' with them. So don't try and imitate me. If you want a stretch you'll probably be more courageous then me, so you'll hopefully manage without all these chemicals ;-)
The third hour:
Yes I'm typing slowly, partly because of the Tramadol (it's a prescription painkiller that has some morphine-like effects, so you feel lazy and light-headed, even mildly euphoric). There is still some local pain, but nothing too bad. No more swelling, no blood, no discharge, no fever, no ambulance, no final will needed. I even managed to pee, but not a lot. My kidneys probably decided to wait a bit till healing is a bit further.
Conclusion:
With some help from EMLA, xylocaine gel, and painkillers I managed to stretch at the same time my apadravya to 6 G and my ampallang to 4 G. I'm not saying that this is a good way to do it (on the contrary), but it worked out fine for me. There will be follow up information on my IAM page for those of you who are member, and of course some pics later.
