My mom jokes that if I get anymore holes in my face, I'm going to turn into a fountain and start leaking. But this experience wasn't planned. It was a spur of the moment type of thing. One of my friends who has her nipples pierced suggested I get mine done, hers are really cute so I thought that I would just go for it. We only live once right?
I go alone because nobody wanted to tag along (they did, but forgot I was actually going through with it) which was fine with me. I guess that made me even more nervous, because I had nobody there to actually rub it in their faces like "Yeah I'm bad, I'm getting my nipples pierced". I was feeling more like "Oh my god, what the fuck am I getting myself into?". I have never been as nervous as I was before then, my stomach was in knots. I'm calling everybody, cursing them out for actually letting me go through with this.
But anyways, I get to the shop and stall outside for a bit (smoke a cig to calm down, I wanted to throw up), I finally walk in and say hey to steve (who is a wonderful artist might I add, my rook turned out beautiful) and filled out the paper work. This was when the now or never attitude set in. I had no one there with me so that probably made it worse (because you just sit and wait for what feels like death to happen) but better at the same time. Steve came over and asked me how I was going to pay, then rang me up (40 dollars for each nip, I rather pay a lot and get the best), then he headed to his room to clean up and get everything ready.
The time has come. We walked back, talked for the longest (he likes to talk which is a good thing to me, esp. about the cleaning of the piercing and what not to do), and I sit in the chair by the door to wait and watch him get everything out and ready. Then he began to mark me. Once I checked to see if I liked it (which I did of course), I laid down and it was all she wrote. Steve likes to do breathing techniques which really do help with the pain because all you do is focus on your breathing. I tried to do that this time but I was really nervous about the pain so I couldn't really focus on my breathing. All I was worried about was that needle going through my precious VERY sensitive nipple.
He started with my right nipple since he was already on that side, tried to focus on my breathing, once I let it out it was pierced! And the feeling wasn't too great, it hurt really bad. I laid there for a minute or two before he started on the other one (I was in shock and really wanted to cry), he moved to the other side, told me to focus on my breathing again, told me to let it out and OW! The left one hurt just as bad and maybe even worse. He joked that I never say ow so it must have really hurt.
So I did it. got BOTH of my nipples pierced! Steve brought me some water, propped the chair up and let me relax for as long as I needed, which was good because I was really light headed and my nipples were on fire. He snapped some pictures for is portfolio online (which I didn't mind, he asked first). I relaxed for a little bit, said my good-byes so he could go and pierce the other young lady who was waiting. He gave me some sea salt just for the night because I already had some but I was staying out that night and needed some.
When I got in my truck I was afraid to wear my seat belt. I could barely move my body, every bump was pure hell. But I made it to my destination, showed my sister and her sis-in-law my new beauties! They cringe at the sight and could tell I was in pain, but they took care of me. The only thing that really bothers me now is the cold air which makes them hard and they start to throb. They seem extra sensitive now (I also found out that wearing more than one bra with some sort of pad covering them helps with the swelling and stop from them moving around a lot and rubbing against your shirt). But I can rub through the two sports bras, the pads and my shirt and it feels like I'm actually touching them. Weird huh?
If you're looking to get a piercing, a nipple (or two) would be your best bet! I have a high tolerance for pain, but this hurt a lot I'm not gonna lie! be sure you go to a place you're comfortable with and wouldn't mind showing them your goods! Make sure you take really good care of them as with any piercing or tattoo. Sea salt soaks are really important to how you heal. It's only been a few days since mine were done but I love them!
