Okay, so this all started last week. We were at school, discussing some other girl's nipple piercing, and my friend Rachel said, "You know, Euan (her boyfriend) has a nipple piercing kit in his house." I said, "Wow! He should soooo pierce my nipple!" I guess this was kind of bizarre as I had never before in my life expressed any desire at all to have my nipple pierced. But now I really, really wanted it! Rachel and Kim, my other friend looked disgusted. "I don't really want my boyfriend to fondle your breasts, Mel."

Later that night I received a text from Rachel telling me she asked Euan and he had agreed! How exciting!

After ensuring Euan knew allll about how to pierce a nipple I was pretty much set on having one. And so last night, me, Rachel and Kim got in a taxi and travelled the 2938562805 or so miles to Euan's home in the middle of a field (seriously). We arrived laden with potato snacks and Malibu, and I saw all the piercing equipment lying on a table. I started to get pretty excited but not really nervous.

We were slightly distracted from our task after noticing that Harry Potter was on TV, but a bag of Kettle Chips later, we decided it was time. It was slightly embarrassing undressing in front of Euan, I don't think he knew where to look, either. We moved into the bathroom, Kim and Rachel squealing like little girls at the sight of Euan pinging on his latex gloves (what a professional).

Kim was in charge of phone calls to our friends who could not be there and photography. Rachel nearly passed out after being asked to hold the tongs and so didn't so much. The bright flashes of the camera were kinda off-putting. Probably moreso for poor Euan, who exclaimed "I'm shaking, I'm shaking!" They were all waaaay more nervous than me, probably considering none of them have any piercing or mods whatsoever.

After a bit of confusion as to how Euan could hold the needle, clamp, and cork at the same time, we eventually worked it out (no, I don't remember how) and were good to go. The needle jabbed in and I let out a cry of "MOTHERFUCKER!" but it was more from excitement than anything else. This was in no way as painful as everyone had told me or any of the stories I had read! It felt weird, that was all. When it was halfway through, the phone began to ring, but this was no normal ringtone, this was "PUSH ME AND THEN JUST TOUCH ME TILL I CAN GET MY SATISFACTION", you know the song? Well. That's a moment I won't forget. I was hysterical with laughter and had to ask Euan to stop for a minute, but he looked so distressed at this that I told him to keep going while I suppressed my giggles. We checked it was all the way through and then yoinked it out to a huuuuge flow of blood (cue screams from everyone except me).

Then there was the problem of getting the jewellery in. I couldn't find the hole for blood! And my nipple had started to do that thing when it gets less cold and it well, is just less nipply! So Kim and Rachel ran to get ice but could only find sorbet. I held this on for a minute or so (there is now blood frozen into the sorbet. Euan did not appreciate this - "You better not have aids." Nice.)

Eventually I got the ring in, but could not get the ball on so I left this to Euan. He got it. I love him.

Then we discussed whether or not it was a great idea to drink alcohol right after getting pierced. Turns out it was. So we went back to Harry Potter for the night as I said "My rack is throbbing."

In the morning I did not have enough time to clean my new piercing which was not good, but I tried my best. I'm home now so everything's okay.

The most painful part of this whole experience was waking up to find my lovely, lovely friends had uploaded allll the pictures to the internet. I was not amused. Although the photo of me covered in blood , laughing hysterically, clutching a tub of sorbet to my left boob is pretty funny. And y social network site got deleted for 'inappropriate images", can't say I really blame them.

So basically, I would recommend this piercing to anyone! I love my nipple ring, it was definitely worth it and was such a teeny amount of pain! (Although I should add I do have a high pain threshold).

I know I can't talk getting it done DIY style, but I think anyone thinking about getting this done should go see a professional, as unless you know what you're doing - and even then - things can go wrong. Good luck! :)
