I had been thinking about getting a nipple piercing for a while now, but had always associated nipple piercings with skankiness. If I were to have a nipple piercing, I would want it to be a work of art (or close to) and actually have meaning to me.

My friends had recently had theirs pierced, despite being underage, and had nothing but good news to report from it. This changed my mind instantly, and I caught the piercing bug, itching to have it pierced!
I was not a newbie to body piercings (yet I was not a total experienced fellow), and had had my septum pierced, my navel pierced twice (the second time, the piercer was swearing, - I boast the hardet navel to pierce!) and have my ears gauged. Because of this, I was not worried about the pain, but still went through my little stupid pre-piercing ritual where I pinch the area as hard as I can to see my tolerance to pain!
I was also iffy about the whole nipple-piercing idea as I have had problems with my navel piercings growing out, and was worried a nipple piercing would do the same, but I was still adamant to pierce it.
Last week, whilst in the city with my friend (who has had her nipple pierced before, but took it out), we decided to get them pierced. I decided on getting my right nipple pierced, while she wanted both done.
My friend was eager to get it done at Essential Beauty, for their cheap prices, but they are not actually qualified piercers (despite their brochures saying so). I decided to get it done at the tattoo and piercing place just down the road, but because of my age, they were unable to pierce it. I did not want to get it pierced at my usual piercers, as I felt uncomfortable having it pierced there, and I doubt they would be legally allowed to pierce it anyway. If I wanted it done, I'd have to go to an unqualified piercers. Essential Beauty.
I remember going to Essential Beauty a while ago and asking about VCH piercings. And they didn't know what I was talking about. Essential Beauty seem to not know what they are doing, and simply pierce anything for a cheap price.
But cheap prices do not reflect quality.
My friend was delighted after she had her piercings. I was listening outside the room, and I only heard a little squeak of pain. Because of her good reaction, I thought it would be fine. Still, I was worried about the experience and the knowledge that the piercers had. Also, a scary picture of an infected nipple from the website heaven666 loomed in my mind. I had found out before-hand that having a nipple piercing does not affect breastfeeding later in life, as long as you take the jewelry out during it. It all seemed worry-free.
The procedure:
Getting it pierced was surprisingly un-weird. I had asked for the most experienced piercer there, who had pierced 100's of nipples.
Maybe I was in safe hands.
She asked me to lay down on the table, and pull up my top, and pull down my bra. She marked up where she was going to put the needle through, and asked me to check it in the mirror. Yep, looks good.
I laid back down on the table, and the piercer reached for a clamp, while using a swab to coax my nipple out.
After a short time (where I felt quite embarassed for having this done), she announced that I must have inverted nipples. Which I know I dont. I believe she said this because my nipple only got a little hard, and she thought that was it. This made me really doubt her competence, but it was too late. She had put the needle in position. I quickly looked away while she thrust it through and put the jewelry in place (a straight barbell). The whole thing was very quick and painless, but the nipple was very tender afterwards.
The aftermath:
The nipple is sore if it catches on materials, and has gotten far more tender. Healing time is six weeks, so in 2 months this should all be fine.
I also recently experienced an unusual reaction: The areola (or whatever it is called) around the nipple seems to have gotten larger, on both boobs.
Like the other one is feeling sympathetic.
And I'm worried that it'll get bigger, and how much bigger? This is practically ruining my chest!
I cannot go to anywhere to get it checked out, as it is illegal because of my age.
Anyone who is getting their nipple pierced, ask about your piercers qualifications and just wait the extra year to get it done by a professional!
Also, ask questions.
Make sure they know their gauges, and all about the healing process.
