I decided that I wanted my nipple(s) pierced.. it was kind of a spontaneous decision. A few months before I actually got it done, I researched the piercing. I had already gotten my tongue pierced and a tattoo on my upper back (spine) and top of my foot so I did not check out the place for I had been there a few times before. I researched the piercing procedure online and asked a lot of questions when I got there. Since my friend was getting a piercing I decided to go with him. It was time for a new piercing

Once in the studio it took me about an hour to sign the papers because I was SO nervous one minute I wanted it the next my nerves were taking over. Once they were signed..about 5 min before closing, I went into the room. Frank got everything ready for my piercing and cleaned the seat and room after my friends piercing- he had his labret done.

Frank the piercer came in and instantly remembered me. He had done my tongue. He had me take my shirt off and stand straight in the corner marked my nipple. Surprisingly i was NOT nervous about showing this man my breasts. I was scared of that needle sitting on the counter- knowing it was going to be in me in just a few minutes.

I decided to just get my left one done since my right one is SUPER sensitive and also I figured I could give my significant other a choice...pierced or not pierced :-) Once it was marked and I was satisfied where it was going to be, he had me pick a ball closure ring or barbell. He told me to sit in the chair facing him. I was so nervous I was shaking. I asked if I could lay down figuring if I passed out I would already be laying down. He said that was fine. I started taking deep breaths kind of like the pregnant woman breathing as he put the clamp on.

Now with my tongue piercing the clamp hurt but the piercing did not..with this one the clamp did not hurt. It was just a little pressure. By this point already I had my friends hand squeezed SO tight he was telling me to let go- I really needed the morale support. Frank told me he would count to 3 and to remember to keep breathing. I heard 1..2..then I felt the needle tear and rip through each layer of skin...3 Then the tears came to my eyes. First it had a warm feeling..my whole body got hot then i got all tingly and then it just down right burned! The whole process took about a minute but seemed like 5. It was as if I watched the whole thing from another room. But it was done. He had me sit up slowly so I wouldn't pass out. He gave me cleaning instructions and told me that wearing a sports bra may help with the pain since I am so well endowed.

So now we come to the healing time...they say at least 6 months....I absolutely loved my new piercing but it was SORE!! SORE for about 6 months! I decided to give it a year before I decided if i was going to take it out. I also waited a year to change the piercing. I used sterile triple antibiotic ointment on the barbell to help it go through the first time I changed it. A year came and I had had good days and bad. Some days were just sore and some days were crusty and some days were great! So a year came and went and I still have it- i have found that barbells are the best for me. Anything that is curved irritates it. It has been 2 1/2 years now and it is one of my favorites...i have 12 other piercings and another tattoo all done at the same place and still only 1 nipple. The only piercing I have had trouble with is my navel..which I removed.

There is no pain anymore. I can tug and pull on it with no pain. For anyone who is considering this piercing- be patient and expect discomfort for a bit. Research the piercing and place- if you are in the Pittsburgh area I recommend Misery Ink they are very friendly and very clean. Also decide if you will feel comfortable with a man or woman piercer (misery ink has both). I do not regret getting one done because I know that I can always go back and get the other one done. I have also not seen any differences yet in one lower than the other. I also like to show it off and like I said before... you have a choice...pierced or not pierced it's your choice :-)
