I'd been thinking of getting my nipple pierced for a little while, and one day last October at college I decided that today was the day. My friend had already recommended me to Jazz, where she got a lip pierced, and said they were very friendly and professional.

She came with me that day after college, which is in Hampden Park, and we took the bus (which was late, naturally) and in a mad rush, managed to get to Eastbourne town centre and to Jazz, before closing time.

They had time to fit me in; I just had to wait for a few minutes. In the mean time I filled out a consent form with all on details on it etc. My friend Rachel gave me words of support, assuring me it would be fine (despite having not had the piercing herself)

They called me in, and by this time I was feeling pretty nervous. Hannah, the piercer asked me if I wanted to take my top off, or just pull it up. I opted to pull it up.

She marked it up whilst I was standing, and despite my nipple going hard as she cleaned it the experience wasn't as embarrassing as I had imagined.

I was told to lie down and she fixed the clamp on my left nipple. By this point I wasn't too worried about the pain. With all my other piercings (various ears, nose and belly) I've been fine, and the pain hasn't really bothered me. The piercer in Brighton who did my nose said to my friend "God she's fantastic, not a squeak out of her!".

I started concentrating on my breathing as she adjusted the clamp some more. "OK, deep breath on 3. 1, 2, 3" and then the needle went through. In made my toes curl and my head went fuzzy. The pain was unbelievable. It felt like my nipple was going to explode.

I was dreading having the jewellery put through. 1, 2, 3 again and the metal bar was pushed in. By this time my tummy was doing flip-flops.

I stood up gingerly to take a look in the mirror. Ace! It looked fantastic and I was suddenly feeling better.

I paid my £17.25, collected my after care sheet and made my way out.

A very slow walk down the stairs later and I had to sit down again. My friend's boyfriend had to roll a cigarette as my hands were shaking too much. They caught their bus and I got the train back to Hastings where I live.

There was minimal oozing, the pain went away after 2 days, and it healed up fine. The bar was the perfect size.

The only time it tends to flair up is when another persons saliva..um..gets on it *cringe*

3 months later and its New Year. I'm a fan for symmetrical piercings and wanted the other one done. My friend Bianca, decided to come with me, and in the end I decided to pay for her to have hers done.

Yesterday we took the train into Eastbourne, went to Jazz, and yes they could fit us in.

Filled out the form as usual, and waited whilst a guy had his ears pierced.

All the noises coming out of the studio brought back pain memories of last time, which I'd managed to push out of my mind.

Bianca went first, she wanted me to hold her hand, as she's petrified of needles. There was a squish and a pop and the needle went through which made me a little queasy, but despite a quiet 'fuck!' escaping her lips she was fine.

My turn. I took my bra and top off this time so she could mark it up to match the other one. I was quivering a little at this point and shaking my head at myself as she fastened the clamp thinking that I'm such an idiot for going through this again.

1, 2, 3, and the needle went through. It wasn't as bad as last time, but still painful. I guess it was knowing what to expect. No iffy tummy, no shakes, just a dull ache in my boob. Ace. A little look in the mirror, and I'm out again. Already planning my next piercing.

Mum's wedding in May prohibits anything visible until after then, as she wants me to look 'respectable', which is fair enough. It's her day. I can wait until then.

Wednesday is my day off college, and gives me a chance to be away from door frames (these and DD's tend to bump into each other allot) and bear hugs off of friends, somewhat lethal weapons after you've just had your nipple pierced.

Can't wait for it to heal, as the other one feels great. I'd recommend it to anybody :)
