I had toyed with the idea of getting my nipples pierced for some time. But just the thought of the pain that would come with the piercing made me hold off for a few years.

Both of my boys were almost 9 lbs, and I never had any type of pain medication whatsoever throughout the whole labor and delivery. After that I was like, "hell yeah I can handle getting my nipples pierced! I can handle pain a lot better than I thought!"
So one (childless) night I was having a few drinks with some friends and we got into the subject of nipple piercing. A friend said I wouldn't have the balls to get mine done, and I figured, what the heck?? It can't be that bad, can it?? I know a few people that have theirs done, and they said it was nothing! I've waited too long as it is! So I made an appointment with Jamie at Hot Rod's the next day.
I had to wait about a week to go in, and by the time that day rolled around I was nervous as all hell! I was practically shaking as I filled out all the necessary forms and gave the guys at the counter my I.D.The pierce was busy with another client at the time so I walked around and looked at the flash on the walls for what seemed like an eternity, then finally Jamie came out. "You the one getting the nipple piercing?" me - "um, yeah, I guess. (Gulp!)" He led me back to one of the most sterile looking piercing rooms I had ever seen. It felt like I was in a freakin doctor's office. He told me to hop up on the table, then he proceeded to tell me about the piercing, sterilization techniques, and all that stuff. By the time he was ready to actually start everything I was feeling a lot more relaxed, probably due to the fact that he had me all psyched out thinking it wasn't going to hurt a damn bit. (Liar!!! ha ha) No, really, he was a great guy, very professional, and he made me feel totally at ease about the whole thing. Then I had to bear my boobs, which I think was the hardest part for me, because all of u other moms know, pregnancy has a tendency to make your boobies look not quite so, um, perky. But I said what the hell, pulled down the top of my tank top, and he marked my nipples, I checked the placement, everything looked good, then came the needle. Yikes. Not something I want in my nipples! He asked if I was ready, told me to take a deep breath, and on the exhale, in that damn needle went. It hurt like hell, I'm not going to lie, but it was nothing completely unbearable. "Are you ready for the next on, or do you want to wait a minute?", he asked. I knew the second one would be a hell of a lot worse, so all I said was something to the effect of, "Just f**cking do it!" I know I cursed a few times, which I can usually control around people I don't know, but damn, I was in pain! The clamps were on, and before I knew it the needle was in and then the ring. And I was right, it hurt a hell of a lot more the second time!! After I recovered from the shock of having needles shoved through my nipples. (Ok, it was only a couple seconds, but it felt like a lot more!) he handed me a mirror to check out my new metal and all the pain was immediately forgotten. I absolutely loved them! They looked so damn neat. He went over all the aftercare stuff with me, then I thanked him, got dressed and went up front to pay. I had this stupid grin on my face for hours; I know I probably looked like a moron, but I was amped that I finally did it!
It's been about 7 months since I had them done, and I've never had any major problems with them. Still some occasional crusties, but I can deal with that. Everyone I've told (or showed. Hee Hee.) both loved them and thought I was insane. All I can say is, if you're wanting to get this piercing done, just do it! Yeah it hurts, but what piercing doesn't!? It's given me a lot more self confidence (more than I thought a little ring ever could!) And it's also kinda neat to have a little secret like that, like "hey guess what I have under my shirt??"
And if you're ever in Ohio, I'd recommend the guys at Hot Rod Tattooing to anyone. These guys are great. Very clean, professional, and friendly atmosphere.
