This is the story of my nipple piercing(s)....

I had decided on the spur of the moment that I wanted to get something pierced. New to the concept "professional" body piercing as opposed to "do it yourself" piercing which I had become an expert at, I quite didn't know what to pierce. I didn't want a navel piercing because they were beginning to become too trendy and I had pierced my own in high school. I lived with it for about 2 weeks before realizing that it was a boring piercing, not to mention a little sore from doing it myself with a suture needle and a store bought cbr.
I though for a little while and then it came to me... A nipple piercing. None of my friends had one and I though it would be great for my first real professional piercing. I called up my boyfriend at the time and told him my idea and he though I was crazy. "Why would you just get a piercing on the spur of the moment?" he said. I told him that I get that way sometimes. I need to do spur of the moment things. He came to pick me up at home and we drove off to this shop that had just opened at the time called Adrenaline. I was very calm. My boyfriend was the nervous one. I spoke to Chris, the owner and piercer. He suggested jewelry. It was between a 14g cbr or a 14g barbell. I chose the barbell seeing that I like the way they look better. I was asked whether I wanted both nipples or one nipple done. I wasn't sure but then I opted for one... just to see what it was like and if I enjoyed it, I'd come back for the other.
As the room was being prepped and I was filling out forms, to my surprise, my boyfriend was asking the girl at the counter about nipple piercings for men. He decided he would go for one too. He opted for a 14g cbr and began filling out papers too. As soon as Chris was ready, he asked who wanted to go first. I decided I would be the one because I like to get things over with and it gave me an advantage over my boyfriend... I could scare the crap out of him before it was his turn!!!
I went into the piercing room by myself and Chris prepped me. He asked me which side I wanted the piercing on. I told him I wanted it on the left. He cleaned the area, had me stand to mark the entrance and exit holes and then it was time to sit back down for the piercing. I don't remember the forceps being too painful or uncomfortable. I remember the needle touching my skin and the countdown. Then the stab... It was over. I seemed too good to be true. The barbell slid through and that was it. I got up, looked at it in the mirror and put my bra back on. Before walking out, the aftercare was explained and Chris gave me a candy for being such a champ, impressed at how well I took it.
After stepping out of the room, I saw my boyfriend's look of horror. "So?" he said. "It hurt a lot. Those clamps... and the needle is HUGE!" He seemed to turn pale all of a sudden. Chris took him into the room as I giggled outside with the girl at the counter. She said to me: "Guys always take it a lot worse!" and laughed. A couple of minutes later, I hear my boyfriend yell. He stumbles out of the room after a few minutes sucking on a candy with tears in his eyes. "That fu*king hurt!" he said.
Well, after that, he never got another piercing. However, for me, it began my journey into the world of piercing. My left nipple (this will be another story...) was followed by many genital piercings. Almost six years later, I would get the other nipple pierced. However, due to an unexpected medical intervention over summer 2004, both my nipple piercings had to be removed. Now that I am 100% well again, I am looking to replace them with vertical nipple piercings, hopefully in the near future.
All in all, the healing took a while. My nipples would act up now and then but nothing that a good salt soak wouldn't take care of. I can't really complain because I didn't really have it all that bad compared to some of the stories I've read on BME and heard from others. My nipples were pretty uneventful in their lifespan. They felt great and made me feel good. I miss them terribly.
If you're considering nipple piercings... go for it!
