I just recently moved to Louisville from Indiana to go to school at the university of Louisville. I had always thought about getting my nipples pierced so I thought it might be a good idea to get it done on my birthday.I am not very familiar with the area so I wasn't sure where I should go but after talking to a few girls at the school they recommended Soren for his gender based discounts. I am a student after all. I made the decision to get my room mate Susan to go with me. My boyfriend approved more with someone there anyways. He wanted me to go to a female piercer and I heard there was a girl piercer at Highland Tattoos so he gave the green light. My friend Erin had her nipples done by both of them at the same time and said it made it a lot easier to get through. (I didn't find out until after I got there that she actually left because of female client issues with Soren)

It was a thursday so not that many people were in there to begin with. The shop apparently has a pretty bad name for itself. (Again another thing I didn't find that out until after I was pierced.) I waited around for about thirty minutes for Susan to show up but I got a call on my cell saying she wasn't going to be able to make it. I already had my nerve up so I decided to go ahead and do it. Soren came downstairs and helped me fill out my paper work. I asked him how much it would cost and he said that for me he would do it for sixty. That was ten bucks off the normal price so I was happy. He wasn't at all what I expected. Just an average looking guy who didn't really seem that interested in being there at all.
We got upstairs and he asked me what I wanted to get pierced with and I told him Rings. He said that He didn't think it was a good idea since I am pretty active and recomended I go with curved barbells instead so there wouldn't be as much friction. He told me to take my shirt off. It was extremely embarrasing having to undress in front of him but I tired to tell myself that he has to see this stuff everyday so I would look like an idiot if I didn't try to act like a grown up about it. I was the one who wanted to get them pierced after all. When my shirt was off he complimented me on how good my nipples looked and how much better the were going to look with the barbells which basically made the nervous embarrassed feeling come right back. He bragged pretty much through the whole piercing procedure about how he was teaching at some college and tried to impress me with the fact that he took kung fu and was a dj that made his own music. I couldn't tell if he was just trying to make conversation to ease my nerves or he was just that full of himself and hitting on me.
He cleaned me off and marked the area he was going to pierce. He
clamped my nipple and shoved the needle through. It hurt pretty bad.He put a cork on the needle and then clamped my other nipple. I started to shake a little bit and get pale and sweaty. He waited for me to gain composure and after I gave my okay he continued. It wasn't as bad as the first one. He took the jewelry and put it through. I thought it was more painful than the needle going through although I know a lot of people have said that it takes away the pressure and pain for them it didn't have that effect on me. He cleaned off the blood and pen markings and then sat down and started talking to me. Unfortunatly my embarrasment returned because he gave aftercare instructions while my shirt was still off. He explained how to clean it with sea salt soaks to ease any discomfort and to soften the scabby crusty stuff that would get on the barbells. Then told me that I needed to get some aftercare for cleaning and keeping infection out. He recommended putting some gauze in my bra to prevent blood from staining my bra. After the aftercare instructions he continued to brag about himself till I just got tired of waiting and just put my clothes back on and he got the hint. He asked if he could get my contact information but I told him I would prefer not.
I went downstairs to look at some of the other jewelry for nipple piercings and he followed me down. He said he owned the jewelry and could give me a really great deal and when I was ready to change them out he could do it for me so I wouldn't have to. I smiled and thanked him and he gave me his card and told me to call him if I ever wanted needed anything or if I just wanted to talk.
While I did only have to pay sixty for both of the piercings I think I would have rather paid the extra ten to have a little more professionalism. The piercings turned out fine. I haven't had any problems with them. The angle is different on each side but I like them anyway. I probably won't go back to Soren. Maybe if I was single or if he wasn't so full of himself.
