Okay, so the other day, I was sitting in my room, and I really wanted to pierce something. I'd already done my lip, and my cartilidge multiple times myself, so it wasn't a new thing. And I had just removed my titanium CBR from my cartilidge, so I had a ring to use.

The choice I made was obviously nipple. I had just done a cartilidge piercing not even an entire month earlier, and I heard that it's better to use a 16 gauge ring for your tongue webbing, so nipple it was. Not to mention that it's a lot less noticeable, so I had a lot better chance of hiding it from mom... I had a friend who had done one of hers herself, and she said that she actually passed out from the pain. And she was pretty tough, so I was kind of nervous. But I figured that, if I could handle doing my lip, and doing that with a safety pin, I could handle doing my nipple with an actual hollow piercing needle and much more experience. The only piercing I've had that got infected was my cartilidge, but I had done it badly, and not taken care of it well, because I had figured, "It's an ear. How much care does it need?" (Bad reasoning, by the way). Point is, I had a good track record, so it wasn't all that bad.
So I tell a friend of mine online that I'm going to go do it, and that I'll be back later, and sign off line. I grab one of my needles, which is autoclaved and individually wrapped, and I grab my CBR, and I head to the bathroom.
I cleaned the area with soap and water, and then used an eyeliner pencil to mark the entrance and exit points so that it would go in straight. I checked them in the mirror, and they were a little off, so I redid them, and I thought they looked about even.
I took the needle out of the wrapper, and cleaned the ring and put it down on a piece of toilet paper. I put the needle up to my nipple, and took a deep breath, and started to push. It went in about half of a centimeter, and hurt a lot, but it wasn't bleeding. It took about 5 minutes to push it all the way through, and I didn't have a cork so it was kinda of freehand. When it got through the other side, it started bleeding a little, but not too much.
Putting the ring in was actually easier than with any other piercing I have, due to me actually being able to see it, and using a hollow needle. I should have used Vasoline on the needle, though, but I completely forgot about that at the time.
It hurt a bit that night, but I still think cartilidge is more painful, and your conch is the worse I've ever experienced, and I never even put a ring in that one.
I did this all last night, so it still hurts a little, but it's just kind of stinging. But I'm wearing a little bit of a bigger bra, but it still rubs against it at times, and that hurts. Sleeping is a little awkward, but better than I thought it would be. Since I only did one, sleeping on the other side is acceptable. I can actually sleep on the side that it's pierced, too, just not on my stomach or anything. But I'm afraid of any movement, now. Everytime someone near me makes a fast motion, I cringe and start to cover my breast. It's weird, but I'd rather be safe than be caused a lot of pain. Pressure to the area hurts a lot, and I really want to avoid that. I haven't had a chance to clean it yet, but I know that moving the ring hurts a lot and I'm sure it'll be the same when I clean it. But at least I can see it, which makes it so much easier to clean. I'm pretty sick of having to stick my head under a faucet every morning to clean my ear. I hear nipples take anywhere from two to six monthes to heal completely. I can deal with that, but I hope that there's not to much trauma put on it from going to concerts. That's always a problem, since I once usually crowd surf a bit, and my nipple would probably get in the way.. But I guess there's only one way to find out about that one.
In all, the piercing process wasn't that bad, but I would recommend people getting this one done professionally. I'm not sure how the healing will go, but if I could heal a safety pin pierced lip, I figure I can deal with this, too.
Good luck to all self-piercers, and to all piercees, as well. I thought a nipple piercing would be 10 times as painful as this, but it's not. I definitely recommend it.
Happy piercings!
