Until recently I only had my ear lobes pierced twice as that was all my mum would allow. But as a reward for getting good grades in my summer exams I was allowed to get my third hole pierced... that's when I caught the piercing bug. I have a whole list of body parts that I want pierced, but my boss isn't too keen on facial piercings and I'm going to wait a while before I get other parts of my ears pierced as my 4th hole still isn't quite settled yet.
At A Glance Author daysee rock When It just happened Artist w Studio Millenium Body Piercing Location Southampton, England I decided I wanted a piercing that wasn't obvious to everyone when they first looked at me, and considering I already had my belly pierced and wasn't planning on going 'below the belt' just yet I decided that a nipple piercing was my only real choice. A few people in my college classes had them and as per usual the girl said it didn't hurt, but the guy said it hurt like hell. I decided to believe the lady considering my belly didn't hurt at all and I wanted to be positive.
I looked at pictures and stories on BME and totally fell in love with them. I got as much information as I could so that I could be 100% sure this was what I wanted to do. So the next day at college when a piercing conversation came up I told my friends I wanted to get my nipple pierced. They all thought I was totally mad as they are not into body mod except for a few ear piercings, but I was certain I wanted it done and nothing they could say would change my mind.
This morning I decided today was going to be the day I'd get it done... As I was sat in my lesson at college I couldn't concentrate because I was so excited. But as soon as break time started me and my friend walked to the train station and headed into town. By this point the adrenaline started rushing and I couldn't wait to get my new piercing.
We walked to Millennium Piercing Studio in Southampton and went up the stairs into the waiting room where my piercer (whose name I never remember) met me and took me up into the piercing room. I told him what I wanted done and how I wanted it to be on the right side as I thought that would look the best on me, so he asked me to take off my top and 'get them out'. He marked me up with his little purple pen and made me check them in the mirror to make sure I was happy with the positioning it would be in. Then he asked me to lie on the bed as he got out the clamps, needle and the ring he would use.
He cleaned my nipple with the antiseptic wipe thing and put the clamps on. He asked about what other piercings I had to calm me down and was interested as to what else I had got pierced at Millennium before. I could feel my heart beating in my chest but kept reminding myself that any pain would be worth it in the end. When he asked if I was nervous at all I said I wasn't really and he said that I had nothing to worry about. He made me feel totally at ease and we chatted while he made sure I was ready. The fact that he was cute helped too!
He told me to take a deep breath and before I realised what he was doing, the needle was through. I could feel it but it wasn't especially painful, and when he put the ring through I couldn't feel a thing. I looked in the mirror and a huge grin appeared on my face. It looked so cool!
My piercer went through the cleaning procedure and told me what product he would recommend. He also said to put Vaseline around both sides of my piercing when I go swimming; and to make sure that other than the cleaning and Vaseline application; I must leave it alone. No bodily fluids can come into contact with it for 3 months but I guess I can handle that.
After checking everything was ok, he gave me the plastic casing from the needle as a souvenir (I love those) and I paid him my £20. I would definitely recommend Millennium as the guys in there are great. They really know what they're doing and are good at keeping your nerves down. I've had all positive experiences from there and am very pleased with the service they provide.
I'm so proud of myself for going ahead with it and would definitely recommend anyone to get a nipple piercing.. or two. It hasn't bled at all, and I can move it freely already. In 3 months I'm going back to change the hoop to a bar as I prefer how it looks, but so far so good. I love it!
