So my best friend Nancy and I were walking through downtown Montclair and suddenly thought it would be a good idea for her to get her lip pierced. So...she did. And about twenty minutes later we went back to the tattoo shop and I got my nipple done.

I was thoroughly impressed. I have seen a lot of shops that I wouldn't even consider eating a sandwich in. But here, I would have eaten off the floor. I think it's very important to feel safe in the environment you're getting a piercing in. Also to have a shop that is fairly close to where you live in case there is any problems. Or just a general follow up, check-up.
I met the piercer and she was such a doll. Getting my nipple pierced, I felt a little more comfortable to have a female fondle me. When I had my eyebrow done I could have cared less, but a chick piercing my nipple made me feel less self-conscious. My friend Nancy squeezed my hand and I braced myself.
Ow! The needle itself didn't really hurt, but good god...the ring itself felt like death. My nipple didn't bleed one bit. That kind of surprised me because a mere paper cut makes me gush blood. But there was no blood.
Ladies, wear a bra. I thought that a bra would be uncomfortable but after I had been pierced, I put my shirt on and the rubbing of the fabric on my newly mutilated nipple was agony. Putting the bra on was torture but it kept everything in place nicely. So, I would recommend doing so.
For the first few nights I woke up a bunch of times because I would roll onto my tummy and the ring would get irritated. It took some getting used to. I tend to sleep on my stomach so after the first three nights i actually wore a bra and then wrapped an ace bandage just to keep everything still. And it worked well. I know that seems a little extreme but I can't sleep any other way than on my tummy.
My hair was also a problem. I have very long hair that would get snagged on my ring. Especially in the shower. So be wary of the hair ladies. The shower in general...try not to let the water hit directly onto the piercing. Brings a strange stinging sensation. Kind of like walking into the ocean just after shaving your legs. Not a happy time.
Tell your friends. I didn't initially want to let all my friends know the shiny details of my "girls" but too many elbowing incidents. I never realized how often i get bumped in the chest. If you tell them they may giggle or want to see it or whatever but they will become a little more aware of your situation. I had no problem showing it. I was excited!
Keep the boyfriend(or girlfriend) away from it. And for that matter all pets too. I have a little Chihuahua and I love to play with her and didn't particularly think about the piercing and she got a nice swipe of the paw at it. A blood curdling scream and an ice pack and I was alright but you just have to be aware of it. Also the more touching the more likely it is to get infected.
I found that after the first week or so, a tank top with a built in bra is the best way to go. Gives you support but lets the piercing breath and not feel so confined in the bra. I think the little bit of movement that a tank top allows helped.
It has been about a month since I had my piercing done and I still get that crusty junk in the morning. The pain has stopped now and it actually brings quite a lot of pleasure now. That was not my main reason for getting it pierced to begin with. I actually didn't think it would make a difference, sexually that is. But, it's like a pleasant little surprise.
I have been using Bactine to clean my piercing. My piercer told me to use any kind of anti-bacterial and a q-tip. She said to make sure that you use the top sides of the q-tip for the two sides of the piercing. I suppose that is to make sure you don't just pick up the germs and transfer them around the nipple. That makes sense.
Don't be afraid to get a piercing. It isn't like a tattoo where if you decide you don't want it anymore, it's an ordeal. If it's done correctly, and taken well care of, there will be minimal scaring if you decide to remove it. I have been a big chested chick all my life and figured...If they're big, they may as well be shiny!
