About six months ago, I began considering what "abnormal" piercings I'd like. I already have 13 in my ears, including two 0 gauges, so I needed something crazy to alleviate modification boredom. I'm very generously endowed, so my chest has always been a focal point for me. taking this into consideration and browsing various types of body jewelry, I finalized my choice: my nipples.

I have a couple of friends with theirs done, so I was able to get basics from them, such as the aftercare that goes into it, the general feelings of pain and whatnot, and the name of a good piercer. Tom was very genial and polite when I called to make my appointment and I was immediately at ease.

A brief two days later, my best friend and I were zipping down to Belleair Beach, home of Ink and Steel. My pocket was full of money and my stomach was home to millions of butterflies. This was it! After months of deliberation and hours in front of a mirror with faux rings, I was finally getting my nips done!

As it was the afternoon, no one was waiting or being done when I arrived. Tom greeted me right away and led me to the cubicle. We discussed gauge size and I, the flagrant exhibitionist, whipped off my shirt and bra in order to determine the diameter needed. After that was settled (14g and 3/4", by the way), I stood in a natural position in front of Tom and he marked two little dots on each side of my nipple. I got a little shaky then, but struggled to control myself.

I sat in the pseudo-dentist chair while Tom prepped by retrieving the hollow needles, sterilizing my silver BCRs (and smothering them with lube), wiping the piercing sites with an alcohol pad, and readying the clamps.

It was time. Tom first clamped my left nipple, instructed me how to hold the clamp, and got the needle. As it approached, I got nervous but had to talk myself down so the clamp wouldn't move. "Deep breath in, then out... 1... 2... 3..." and it went. I felt the initial puncture, then the separation of tissues, and finally the pop of it exiting the other side, but all so quickly that it barely registered. I gasped, then glanced down at the needle through my nipple. "Oh, wow..." I whispered. "I... That was nothing! I... wow!" The pain, milder than I ever expected, went through as a wave, then subsided as I became distracted with watching Tom slip the ring into the needle, then slid the needle out. The most pain at that point was the slight twinge in my now-tender nipple when Tom closed the ring and secured it around the ball.

One down and one to go... I was even more nervous now that I knew what to expect, oddly enough. The set up was identical--nipple cleaned, clamp in place, and breathing instructions repeated. This time, however, I was cognizant of the impending pain, as well as eager to watch the actual piercing. Oh, wow, did the right one hurt!!! It was torture, start to finish, especially the closure of the BCR.

I remained on the chair long enough to catch my breath and stop shaking, then I hopped up and pulled my shirt on, opting to hold my bra. I was not ready to see what it would feel like with wearing one. Tom then explained aftercare, such as how to wash the rings and manipulate them daily. I peeled off the bills for Tom's payment and $10 tip, then thanked him profusely and made my way to my car.

My best friend, Colby, was almost more excited than I was! I sat in the car, then whipped 'em out to show off my surgical stainless steel acquisition. He complimented them, then requested I focus on the road. The ride home was hilarious, as I kept getting distracted by my chest. I can only imagine the other drivers' thoughts as they passed a girl fascinated with looking down her own shirt!

I made it safely to Wal*Mart, where I purchased Bactine spray and a loose sports bra for work that evening. I had every intention of pampering my babies!

The aftercare was easy for me... I loved the rings and wanted to keep them shiny and pretty. There was only clear discharge the first week or two, and only within the last five days has it become more lymph-like. I'm beginning to see the defined hole on each side when I rotate the rings, as well as feeling no pain. I can't wait to shop for gorgeous new jewelry!

I highly recommend nipple piercing if you're a breast person. Even if you aren't but you find yourself strangely compelled to look at and fantasize about your own nip piercings, do it!! The self-esteem alone is worth it!! I've been showing mine off like crazy, even to people I never would have dreamed would see my boobs. While there is pain, I dare say it's slight enough that anyone could handle it.
