So technically, this really all came about 5 months ago. Two of my friends and myself decided we wanted to do day of shopping in Toronto. After spending hours at some great shops, we realized that we needed to get piercing, naturally. What else completes a day of shopping with your friends?

The first piercing place we ran across was New Tribe. In we went, had a look around and it looked like a great place. We each had an idea of what it was that we wanted: My friend Steph wanted her daith, my friend Ashley her rook, and me... well I wanted my nipples done of course. I decided on both because I figured why not be symmetrical. Well my friends went in first for theirs, so I had lots of time on my hands to browse through. I ended up talking to the man at the counter for a good ten minutes. The fact was, I was kind of resistant to get the piercing in the first place... not because I didn't want it, because I've been waiting to get it for a long time, but because I didn't want people to be able to notice that I had it done, if you know what I mean. But no worries were to be had. He assured me that you would be unable to notice through bra and shirt combined. I really wanted to be pierced with barbells, and sure enough they did that, which made my entire life because I had not found any places in my area which would do this.

So I paid my $120 for the two piercing and the aftercare products, which only was only $5 on its own, and I was off into the piercing room with my friend Steph and my piercer Jon! He put on a clean pair of gloves and showed me that he was opening the jewelry and needles from new pre-sterilized packages to rule out any horrors of already used equipment. Then he told me to pull up my bra and shirt, and I did without feeling uncomfortable at all! That's when I laid down on the table. He sterilized my nipples with a solution on a q-tip; also getting them erected and told me to take a breath. He pushed the needle into my right nipple first, and it surprisingly hardly hurt at all! Then he placed a barbell in and moved onto the second one. And just as anyone will tell you, the second hurt a bit more than the first... but not a large amount! Then he slid the jewelry in and tightened the balls and I was done! He went over how to take care of it, and then sent me off.

I absolutely loved them! I couldn't resist showing my friend right away in the lobby... and I ended up flashing the entire lobby... but its okay because I was proud. They only hurt remotely when I would run into something or people, you know how it goes. I experienced a bit of bleeding, but then again, I find I bleed with all my piercing (including navel and nose and my ears). But the truth is, it was completely worth it. I told myself I'd keep it on the down low, but, I couldn't resist showing a large amount of people. I just wanted to spread the love. And everyone who saw them agreed... they were gorgeous! Personally, I think it was the fact that my jewelry that was in the piercing was/is barbells; they just look ten times better in my opinion. Not to mention there are tons of separate balls you can put on the end. It's always good to mix it up a bit. They healed completely after about a month and a half. I was very surprised with how fast they healed; they didn't even hurt after about 2 days. I washed twice a day with tree tea oil soap and some anti bacterial ointment, the ointment I was only to use for the first week. But all worked out extremely well!

I definitely recommend this piercing to any and everyone. It personally made me feel a million times more comfortable with myself, but then again that's just what piercing do to me in general. I would also strongly advise going to New Tribe, it's a wonderful place and they are very professional and fun to get along with. Don't get too caught up with all the hype about pain. I can honestly say that my belly button hurt worse then both nipples combined, which some may find surprising. Just think of it as a couple of seconds of pain for years of gorgeous pierced nipples. I think that's a positive outlook if I do say so myself. I love my new piercing to my core, and I'm sure you will as well!
