I had wanted to get a piercing for some time but wasn't sure what would look good. I have kind of big ears so the thought of drawing attention to them made me postpone that option and below the belt was definately off limits as far as I was concerned. My brother who has been too scared to commit to a tattoo said he was going to get his nipples done but backed out several times until one night when acting brave he told my girlfriend who wanted her tragus pierced that if she would do hers he would get a nipple pierced and was told okay, then was told by Tim at Undreground Art that if he was going to ever do the second one he should do it now, so he did. I have had a tribal back tattoo for a while and thought after my brother got his Nipples done that it would be cool to do mine.

there was no doubt that Tim was my man because I had spent about 16 hours on my tattoo and knew he was the best and cleanest in town so I said let's go to Underground Art.After doing the necessary paperwork my brother accidentally was abot $20 short so I went ahead and paid because I couldn't back out because the girl at the register was way too fine for me to back out due to cash flow problems. Tim frowned on the fact that I had been drinking but agreed to do it because he knew me, he told me to pick out the rings I wanted, telling me that rings would probably be better than barbells. I picked out some 14ga rings with black on them that would match my tat. After sterilizing everything Tim asked me to take off my shirt. He proceded to mark my nips and cleaned them with betadyne, wearing gloves of course, and asked if I was ready...of course I had to be because all of my pals were there.
The clamp was next, which was horrible. The needle hurt less. I didn't budge a bit. Then came number 2...it hurt like a mother mostly because I knew what to expect. It was no where near the pain I had experienced during my tattoo but it was totally differient. The pain of the piercing is sharp and over before you realize it happened. It also has an immediate gratification because there isn't the long healing process to see what you end up with. I hated to put my shirt back on because I wanted everyone to see my manhood.
Tim went thru the aftercare, using hibiclens and a shot glass and sent me on. I of course had to hit Beale St. showing off my nipple rings to everyone, then later Platinum Plus, the local strip joint. At the end of the night an extremely beautiful woman, who I have liked for a long time asked if she could play with them when they were healed, so that in itself made it worth it. After a long night of drinking the next morning wasn't bad at all as far as the nipples go. I had made drinking after tattooing a tridition so why should piercing be different. Besides my savior was pierced so why shouldn't I be.A few days later hurt with the flipping up of the rings but now no problemo. I highly recommend it to anyone, especially women because I don't think there is anything sexier than a pierced nipple. I also believe that like a tattoo there is a lot of self realization involved, you really know what you can endure after a needle is pushed thru your nipple. Not to say that I could be like a man called horse but I know my own limits. I think it was a great experience and would do it again tomorrow if I had to. I would even do it without drinking first. I also have found it to be quite the conversation piece because many are interested but few dare to step up to the plate. I also highlt recommend Tim if you are in the Memphis area because he is one of the few people that I know that makes his living soley as a piercier and has done so for more that 12 years. Undreground Art is possibly the cleanest and definatly the friendliest tattoo studio that I have been in, it is nipples above the competition. I feel that the nipple piercing is the best to do if you are a professional like myself because it is completely discrete if you want or totally rebellious if you want. Again I highly recommend the experience to anyone reguardless of age. You never know what you can endure until you challenge yourself.
