All my life I have been against piercings, I thought they were ugly and I just didn't like the look of them. Well about 3 years ago, I became very interested in them. I got my belly button pierced, eyebrow, nose, and ears... all of them were pierced by my friend John, or by myself. NONE my parents knew of. About a little more than a year ago, I met a guy named John at a dance, I found out he was a piercer; I asked him if he would ever pierce my nipples, he said yes. So I gave him my number and we spoke. We finally decided to do it at my friends New Years party since her parent's weren't going to be home, and my friend supposedly didn't care if I did. I told my parents I was going to sleep over there after the party, and that her parents were going to be home.

I was very excited, me having very strict parents who would never forgive me or allow me to get ANY piercing. Nipples were definitely a no-no. I went over my best friends house around 7:00 Pm, John brought his friend over, she wanted to get her belly button pierced, I let her go first, since I wanted to have some privacy when I went to get them pierced. When she was done, we went into my friend's bedroom where John prepared to pierce my first nipple. This was a very unsanitary place. He warned me that it was going to hurt a lot, I told him I did not care, and to proceed. He opened a alcohol swab and applied the alcohol onto my right nipple (that was a little cold!) John didn't use a clamp, or mark where he was placing the needle either, which is very unprofessional. Took the needle, and counted 1, 2, 3!!! He jabbed the Needle threw my nipple! My whole body shook as it went threw. It took the needle about 3 seconds to completely go threw my nipple.

Once he had the needle threw, he prepared to place the CBR (captive bead ring, for those who don't know all of the jewelry names.) In the needle, he was using a 14 gauge hollow needle. Unfortunately John only had two little CBRS. A small problem, I don't have small nipples at all. He finally got the CBR in, which took about 5 minutes. I wasn't sure exactly if it was supposed to take so long, I found out later on it should not have. He then went on to the left nipple. He did the same thing, gave me a minute rest from the slight pain. He then pierced my left nipple, OUCH this time it HURT! The left nipple hurt a hell of a lot more.

While he was trying to get the CBR into my nipple, our friends began to think we were doing something else in the room, because it had been about 25 minutes of me being in the room with John alone, So one of his friends decided to bother us and try to open the door, VERY distracting when you have a needle in your nipple! I just wanted to finish, he finally placed the CBR in, cleaned me up a little bit, there was a lot of blood... I'm a real bleeder. John bandaged me up. He checked up on the bleeding every 30 minutes. He didn't give me any real aftercare, he told me to be careful of the shower it may hit the ring and hurt. He also told me to rotate the piercing twice a day, and wash my piercing with alcohol, I heard you shouldn't clean any piercing with alcohol because it dries up the skin, so I went on BME and researched aftercare. I read that you should use sea salts, or anti bacterial soap, I didn't really like doing the sea salts, so I used anti bacterial soap which worke d great.

When I went to school many people found out that I had my nipples pierced, you know how small towns are. Most of the comments from the girls were, "OH MY GOD, DIDN'T THAT HURT!? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?" and grab their boobs. The guys kept giving me weird smiles; a few of them had requested to see them as a cheep excuse to see my boobs. The piercing doesn't really hurt

After about a month my nipples began to heal. Unfortunately my friend's mother found out I had my nipples pierced at her home, and told my parents, who had me take them out, and basically disowned me. I'm waiting to go and get them re pierced soon, but this time at a clean professional studio. The Part I hated had to move the piercing around twice a day, it hurts! I have just been told that rotating the piercing at the beginning is bad, causing damage to make the piercing take longer to heal.

All the supplies where sterilized, I've always made sure the piercer is wearing gloves, and sterile needles and jewelry, I thought that was the right way to go, but I've recently found out how sanitary the place is period is also important, and getting pierced in a bedroom is very unsanitary

Anyone who is thinking about DIY really should research all the possible side effects, like hepatitis, aids, infections, and more. Please do not get any piercing done in the same way I have, I was Lucky my piercing didn't get infected.
