Last night I showed up at my friend Mark's house to give him his birthday presents and he said that he wanted his eyebrow pierced on the right side(he already has two on the left). I said that I definitely wanted to go with him. I had just broken up with my boyfriend a week before and thought that it would be a great time to heal some nipple piercings. So, before we left Mark called our regular studio and asked if our piercer was there. He was so Mark talked to him for a bit and let him know we would be coming in later that night.
At A Glance Author Jane Contact KapookiJane@aol.com When It just happened We left Mark's house and headed to Taco Bell (we always eat there before being pierced). At Taco Bell we ran into some people that we knew and everyone was shocked that I was getting my nipples pierced (I don't know why I have 15 piercings counting the nipples). I have never really considered nipple piercings to be an extreme mod or anything so I didn't really understand their surprise. Anyway, after we ate we left for the piercing studio. After what seemed like forever we got there (it was really only a twenty minute drive).
We went inside and our piercer was waiting for us. He asked who wanted to go first, I said since it was Mark's birthday he could go first if he wanted, but he said he wanted to go second so I wouldn't chicken out. So, I picked out my jewelry (12 gauge CBR's). We went back into the piercing room; he said Mark could watch if he wanted so he came back with us. While the piercer was setting up his equipment (all sterile of course) I took off my shirt and bra. Once he finished setting up his tools he marked my nipples with a one-use marker. I liked the marks so he told me to lie back in the dentist chair. Before he clamped my nipple he showed me the needles in their packages. Then he clamped my nipples. The clamps hurt. He asked if I was ready and I said that I was so he told me to take a deep breath and he would pierce in the exhale. The next thing I know I'm feeling the worst pain ever, but then the jewelry was inserted and the pain stopped. He asked if I still wanted to do t he second one and I said yes so he changed his gloves (for like the fifth time) and moved to the other side. He clamped my nipple and told me that he would pierce on the exhale. The next thing I know I'm feeling worse pain than the first one and as a reflex my body twisted out of the way. I knew that there was no way that this piercing was going to be straight. To confirm what I already knew the piercer said that the hole was crooked. He told me that I had the option of leaving it crooked, removing the needle and coming back another day to repierce, or just repiercing right then. I told him I would have to think about it, so he removed the needle then the clamp and BAM there was blood everywhere. I had expected some blood but this looked like a murder scene (at least it did to me). The piercer knew to expect this so the he was ready with some sterile gauze that he placed on my nipple. I was instructed to hold it there until the bleeding stopped.
While I was thinking Mark said that he would get his eyebrow done. The piercer cleaned up all the equipment that was out from piercing me and brought out new equipment to pierce Mark. By the time that he was finished I had decided to repierce my nipple right then. So after all the equipment that was used for Mark was cleaned up I was completely ready. The equipment used for the first piercing was not used because it had been taken out of the room and put by the autoclave (the needles of course had been disposed) of and so the piercer brought out more equipment and set up. I wanted the hole to go through the mark that was originally made so he was going to try to use the beginning of the hole and go through straight (I don't know if that makes sense, because I can't explain it very well). I knew that this was probably going to be even more painful. So, after my nipple was clamped I was determined not to move and focused all my concentration on staying still. The piercer line d up the needle and told me to take deep breaths and not to move. Again he pierced on the exhale. Surprisingly this hole didn't hurt as much, but even better the piercing was perfectly straight. The jewelry was inserted and I stood up to look at my beautiful new piercings. I absolutely loved them.
After I had redressed myself the piercer went through the after care with Mark and me. Basically we're all three advocates of sea salt soaks a few times a day and keeping your and other peoples' germy hands off your piercing.
I've only had this piercing for one day but I love it. The only time they really hurt is when someone at school accidentally bumps them or when I have volleyball practice and have to move around and dive on the floor a lot.
So far I've gotten mixed reactions from the people that know about them. My really close friends all said that they knew I would have them someday, but people that don't know me all that well are surprised and a few are totally confused as to why anyone would want them. I've even met several (about 10) people that though nipples were pierced with guns! I quickly set them straight, explaining the evils of gun piercings and told them to go to bmezine.com if they wanted to learn more.
*I purposely left out the piercer and studio because I don't want anyone thinking that the crooked piercing was in any was a reflection on the skill of the piercer or the studio*
