I never really thought that hard about getting my nipples pierced until I started looking on bme. The more I saw, the more they grew on me. I thought about it for about a month or so, talk to a friend who has hers done, built up some courage and then decided to do it. On Friday my boyfriend and I caught the bus downtown to Radical Leathers. I was surprisingly calm the whole ride there, I tried not to think about having sharp metal objects jammed through my nipples too much.
At A Glance Author tasha Contact tasha@bme.anon When Three months ago Artist Julie Taylor Studio Radical Leathers Location Dartmouth, NS We got of the bus and walked up the street to Radical. Julies the only piercer there, but the guys at the counter are pretty cool and sure do like to talk. We walked in and I told Julie what I wanted and asked how much. It was $45 for one and $75 for both. I told her I'd get both and just get it over with instead of coming back later. I wouldn't let my boyfriend watch (The piercing rooms pretty small and he'd only be in the way) so he went off to look at bongs and pipes.
I followed Julie into her purple room and watched her set up, taking out new needles, clamps and receiving tubes. I decided on CBR rings, although I think Julie wanted to put in barbells. We talked about her kid, dads, and how spending the money they send you for Christmas on piercing is always fun. I was beginning to get nervous at this point.
Julie sprayed my nipples with some cold stuff, I forget what she said it was and marked where she was to pierce me. Then I lay down and tried to relax. She told me to take a deep breath, then out, and then she pushed the needle through. I felt a burning kind of feeling, and a pinch but that was it. Nothing really pleasurable about it like I had heard. She pushed the receiving tube through and then the CBR and closed it. One down, one more to go.
I turned around to lay with my head at the other end of the table and Julie changed her gloves and got ready to pierce me again. I was a little more relaxed now, knowing what to expect. Once again, breathe in, out, and in went the needle. I found that this one hurt a little more then the other one had. Julies put in the jewelry; put on the ball and said I could check them out in the mirror. They looked great! I paid Julie and did my bra back up and got ready to leave.
Waiting for the bus wasn't so great. It was January and my nipples got extremely hard as soon as I stepped outside. They stung a lot and when we got on the bus whenever we would go over a bump my nipples would hurt. I ended up having to keep my arms crossed the whole ride home.
Aftercare was wash 2 times a day for a week with anti-bacterial Soft soap (colorless and scentless) and then switch to just once a day. Nipples can take almost a year to heal, like navels and the produce a lot of crusties, which is pretty gross. When I got home and checked my nipples they had been bleeding, so I cleaned them up best I could with warm water and soap. This stung a little. I kept hitting them with my arm when I went to reach for things and sometimes the rings would flip up in my sleep, then when I moved them back down the morning puss would ooze out. I usually wear a bra to bed now so the rings stay in place. When cleaning make sure all crusties are removed because if they're not you can feel the crust go into your nipple and it stings. First few times cleaning hurt, once I felt like I might pass out but other then that one time it was fine.
A few weeks after piercing my nipples would itch like crazy, and I'd find myself rubbing my arm against them in class to make it stop. People must have thought I was crazy. I recently noticed it looks like one of my nipples have moved downwards a bit, and my left nipple makes a lot more puss then my right one does. I had it checked out by a doctor today and she said they were ok and to try not to pick at the lymph like I had been doing.
These are a great piercing; they've helped me to appreciate my body more for what it is. I'd recommend them to anyone who needs a little something to boost their self-esteem. Feel free to email me with questions.
