I had never been into nipple piercings until I met my boyfriend. Now, I thought I was cool for having bod mods until he told me that he had seen a lot of girls in high school who had their nipples pierced and how it looked so cool. What? High school kids having cooler piercings than me? That's it. I'm getting mine done. When I told him, he was excited and even offered to pay for them which was great because they cost $95 to pierce them both.

I wasn't sure when I wanted to do it or even if I had the nerve to do it. But the thought of my boyfriend thinking that other girls' boobs looked cooler than mine really helped me with my decision! Now, don't get me wrong he assured me that my nipples were beautiful just the way they are but you know how guys are. That's just something they say...

So, one night his friend called him up and asked if we wanted to go to the Hurricane Hut. (It's a club for those of you who don't live in Houston). So, my boyfriend and I got dressed in our clubbin' clothes which for me was a lacy see-through shirt (minus a bra) & some black stretchy pants, you know the look. Anyway, as we were driving along in the car, I looked down and remembered that my nipples were on show through my shirt for the world to see. Hmmm. Wouldn't this look soooo cool if my nipples were pierced?! I shared my idea with my boyfriend and he immediately called his friend and said, "Hey, we're gonna be a little late. Sarah's gonna get her shit pierced first." My shit? Gee, thanks. But I know that's just "cool talk" between guys.

Now, as you can imagine, my boyfriend put up a huge fuss because he wanted a girl to do it. He told me that if I couldn't get a girl to do it then I couldn't get it done. I told him that I would not go to a place different than my usual place. Those of you who have multiple piercings know that once you have a trusted piercer, you don't trust anyone else. I explained this to him and he finally gave in and drove to Texas Tattoo Emporium to see Zac. I knew that Zac didn't do genital piercings but he would do nipples right? As soon as we got there, I asked him this question and he said that he did do nipple piercings and that he's be glad to do mine. I was so relieved that he was doing them because nipples are a sensitive part of the body that I would hate to have anyone else pierce.

We went back to the piercing room and I asked him if it would hurt. He said yes but only for a second. "How bad will it hurt?" I asked. He said it would be like somebody biting down on my nipple real hard for a second. Hmmm. That didn't sound very pleasant! But, he reassured me that I'd be fine and I knew I would be because I was pretty good with pain. He asked me which one I wanted to do first. I said I didn't care but opted to do the left one first. With that, he clamped it and waited for a minute. I looked at my boyfriend and he was standing close to me telling me to be strong. "Ready?" Zac asked. "I'm ready." "OOOWWWW!!!!" The needle went through and let me tell you: it hurts! That was the worst, most intense pain I had ever felt up until that point! Zac asked me if I was ok or if I needed a minute before doing the other one. Oh, I definitely needed a minute. Several minutes actually. I wasn't sure I could go through that again. He said that it's be st to just get them both done at the same time so they would have the same healing rate. Plus, he didn't think I should chicken out because now that I knew what it felt like, I may never get the other one done! Well, some how we got into this conversation about something totally different and he clamped the other nipple. Zac usually warns me before he does the piercing but all he said was that the second one doesn't hurt as bad as the first one and then we resumed our conversation. My mind was totally into this conversation when all of a sudden I yelled, "OH MY GOD!" "That hurt worse than the first one! Why didn't you tell me?" "You don't wanna hear that." I was mad for about 2 seconds and then I just laughed. The second nipple: now THAT was the worse pain I have ever felt until this point. He said that all my endorphins rushed on the first one and that I didn't have any left for the second one. Well, whatever but that hurt!!!

My boyfriend said that they bled a little. I wouldn't know because I wasn't looking. I was afraid to put my shirt down, though. He told me it wouldn't hurt to have the shirt rubbing against them...and it didn't. I was kind of in a daze as he explained to me that I should wash them at least twice a day with Dial liquid soap and that I would probably be more comfortable wearing a bra than not so that they wouldn't move around so much and this has proven true for me. He said that the healing process is similar to navel but instead of 6-12 months it would be about 6-9 months.

After that, I went to the club with sore nipples (which would go away in 1/2 an hour, I was told) and had a good time with my new ornaments on display.

I got them done on Dec. 28th and it is now March 21st and they still hurt when my boyfriend tries to grab them. This is a big turn off to him but oh well. That's what he gets. I told him that I wish he would get his done to see what it feels like. They still crust and if I accidentally bump them too hard, they bleed to this day. I can't wait for them to completely heal so they can be played with again. They definitely look cool but they also hurt to get done. Don't go in thinking they won't hurt b/c you will be unpleasantly surprised. Remember: Hope for the best but expect the worst. You'll be alright!
