Hi, my name is Catherine (22-years-old) and I just got both my nipples pierced yesterday, Sat. Nov. 2, 2002. I have been debating on whether or not to get them pierced, until one day, it hit me ... why keep thinking about it and just do it?! Of course, like most people, I've visited bmezine.com so many times and read stories and did research before I actually got the piercing. I went through other site and looked at photos and was very intrigued. I, myself, am very into tattoos and body piercings.

I live in Chicago, IL and there are MANY pierces who work in tattoo studios ~ don't get me wrong, I love tattoos, I have 5 myself, but getting a piercing so extreme in a tattoo studio kind of freaked me out. I went on the Internet and searched carefully of a good piercing studio. I found Modern Primitives Salon, in Chicago, IL. I gave them a call Thursday afternoon and spoke to "Happy" Dave. Friendly and honest, he answered my many, many questions straightforward. Dave is first-aid certified and is aware of OSHA's safety methods. I made an appointment for Saturday at 2pm.

My best friend and sister came along for moral support. I went to MPS a little late (traffic!) and was welcomed by "Beloved" Rudy!! Rudy and I go way back ... he did a few piercing on me in high school. So, I was so comfortable, we sat on the couch, looked through his portfolios and chatted a bit while Dave helped some of clients out on jewelry. He then called me into the room. My friend and sister sat outside talking to Rudy while Dave got me set up.

He sized up my nipples and dotted them. Dave cleaned my nipples, twice! He told me that he rather sterilized and clean twice, just to be on the safe side - hey, I was all for it! After he dotted them, we waited for the ink to dry. We got to know a little bit more of each other. We practiced some breathing exercises just to pump me up. Ok, here's the part: He asked me if I was ready and I said yes. I was sitting up looking at good view of myself on his wall mirror. Dave clamped the forceps on my left nipple and with the second exhale he would pierce. OUCH! I hurt for a good 2 seconds and it was over. Put the jewelry in and I was in smiles. I asked him to give me a few more minutes before he proceed with my right nipple.

"Are you ready?" Dave asked, pointing to my right nipple. "Ok. Do it." I replied. He explained that the second piercing would hurt more than the first. I already knew this, but I was determine to come home with both nipples pierced. Dave placed the forceps on my right nipple, I already felt the pain. Second exhale and he would pierce. I wanted to scream, but didn't. I just said an "OMG" loud enough; they heard me in the waiting room. I thought my world was over! It hurt more than anything! More than getting my tattoo at the base of my spine! Hurt like I almost passed out. I cringed my fingers so tight I could've broken a finger. I was glad it was over ... and Dave placed 'Magic Towels' on my nipples to cool it off and decrease the sensation of the pain. Ahhh...that felt like heaven! I wanted to cry, but you know what? I lived through that experience and yes, it HURTS! I gave Dave a HUGE tip. Not only did we become friends that night (another story), he cared about me. He wan ted only the best for me and he was very patient. He sat down with me and explained the aftercare and told me to call anytime if I have problems or questions. Dave did such a wonderful job!

It's now Sunday evening as I'm writing my story on bmezine.com and I can't stop looking at my chest. I soak my nipples in Sea Salt w/ warm water twice a day for a good 15 minutes. In the shower this morning, my left nipple was bleeding a little bit, but it's normal as with the yellow discharge (blood plasma) to follow afterward. NO sucking, pulling or touching for four months. Nipples fully heal after a year. I plan on keeping them pierced for a very long time.

For those who are thinking of getting their nipples pierced ~ do it. And for those who live in the Chicago land area, go to Modern Primitives Salon and have either Dave or Rudy pierce you! It is well worth the experience. If you want to chat or want to know more, my AIM is caterina604.
