I've been into body piercing ever since I was a little kid. When I was a small boy I wanted to get my ear pierced but never dared to admit to my parents. When I was 13 or 14 I finally did a non-permanent ear piercing myself and that's how it all started. I pierced my ear lobs every now and then but always took the needle out afterwards. I then progressed to piercing my nostril the same way and finally there was no stopping to it. I have pierced my ears dozens of times at virtually every imaginable spot, have had up to over a dozen needles in my nose all at the same time, started piercing my nipples, and finally my penis. However, I always removed the needles soon after the piercings so no one would ever know. Only when I stuck another needle through my frenum I began stretching it just for the hell of it. This is the first hole that stayed permanently although I don't ever wear any jewelry in it unless I want to stretch it even further. It's pretty much at 2g or so. I know t he day will come when I eventually admit to my girlfriend that I have this genital piercing.

Just recently she brought a couple of needles home form the hospital she works at. One night we came home and I saw these needles next to her bed. We were fooling around and I said I would pierce my nipple with one of those needles. She just went "yeah right..." and didn't believe me. I was briefly thinking if I should really go for it and pierce myself in front of the woman I love. Well, I did and she freaked out at first. I told her that it didn't hurt much and fooled around with the needle a bit until she saw that I was ok. We started looking for jewelry to insert into my nipple but didn't find anything appropriate as she doesn't even have her ears pierced. Eventually I took the needle out again with the promise I would do it again once I have some jewelry around to put in. It was a huge relief for me that my girlfriend was positive abou t piercing my nipples.
About a month passed until we made it to a piercing studio to purchase the jewelry. I decided I would go for a 14g barbell as my girlfriend likes those more than rings. We went home, had dinner, and thought it was then the right time to proceed with my nipple piercing pt. 2. I cleaned my nipple and the area around it and took a pen to mark the spots the needle was gonna enter and hopefully exit my nipple. Then I disinfected it with some spray my girlfriend had brought from the hospital. As I didn't have a clamp at hand I basically pulled my nipple with the index finger and thumb of my right hand and just shoved the needle through my right nipple with my left hand. There was hardly any pain which is because I had pierced the nipple so often previously. And the medical needle went through totally easily. One could take the actual steel needle out of a plastic tube sort of thing which then solely stuck through my nipple. I then took the barbell out of the alcohol I had been bat hing it in for disinfection and inserted it to the plastic tunnel as I call it and pulled that out of my nipple. That is how I inserted the barbell to my nipple.
My girlfriend loved it right away but was not allowed near it at first. It did get sore a bit for the first couple of days after the piercing. Now it is about a week ago that I pierced myself and the piercing is healing just fine. I still feel a somewhat burning pain at my nipple when ungently touched, but after all I just inserted a piece of metal into it. I soak it in salt water twice a day which works perfectly for me. My nipple has become very sensitive which is great. It never really was very sensitive before and I hope this effect is not only due to the piercing being only a week old and still fresh.
Since I have this nipple piercing I can talk way more openly about body piercing with my girlfriend. We've both wanted to get tattooed for a long time which always gets delayed for budgetary reasons, but my girlfriend never thought she would get herself a body piercing. Now she finds the thought of having her own nipples pierced not something impossible at all anymore. I already told her that I will probably also have my right nipple pierced horizontally as well as soon as the vertical piercing is completely healed. And I am about to let her know that I've had my frenum pierced for a long time (which she probably knows, but never asked me about), and that I am considering to get a PA sooner or later (which I had done several times non-permanently in the past already). Facial piercings are out of consideration for me for job reasons. However, I hope that this experience launched a new life with many piercings that have a fun factor in bed too. And hopefully my girlfriend wil l find for herself that female piercings are fun.
Of course I know that the way I have been piercing myself can be really dangerous. Luckily I never had any problems after my many, many self-piercing experiences. I will probably proceed the same way with my upcoming horizontal nipple piercing but will most likely go to a professional piercer for my PA (which will still be a while, I guess).
After about a week with my pierced nipple I can only encourage everybody to get it done if you are considering that piercing. But I also encourage you not to do it yourself but go to a professional body piercer who knows what he is doing.
