I decided one day that I needed my nipples pierced.

I thought about it for a few weeks, and decided that the next oppurtunity I got, I would do it. Less than a week later, my friend Melina mentioned to me that she wanted to get her belly button pierced. I told her about wanting my nipples done, so we made plans to go get pierced that night.

Melina picked me up at my house and we chatted nervously the whole way to Marc's Tattooing, which is about 20 minutes from my house. We walked in, and told Steve, the piercer, what we wanted done. He looked at the clock and said that they would be closing in 20 minutes, and he wouldn't be able to do it that day. I knew Steve because he did my other piercings, and I begged a little bit and he said that he would stay a little late to pierce us. (Steve is the nicest guy- he just won't admit it.)

I told Melina she had to go first, because I was too nervous. So Steve had Jason, the apprentice, do the cleaning and placement, but he did her actual piercing. This started to freak me out because I really didn't want anyone other than Steve have to see me with my shirt off. After Melina was pierced, and had paid him, Steve asked if I still wanted to go through with it. I said "No, but I'm going to do it anyway."

Steve told me that Jason wouldn't be in the room because he didn't want to make me feel uncomfortable. I appreciated that so much, because that was one of my biggest concerns at that point. I was getting so nervous that I thought I was going to throw up. Steve noticed this and put a garpage can near me, and said "If you're going to puke, that absolutely fine. It's happend before, and I won't take any offense." That calmed me enough to keep my stomache in check for a while.

He cleaned off the area, and after putting the markings in the right spots, he put the clamp on my left nipple. I was so scared at this point that I just kept grabbing Melina's arm. The clamp was definatly uncomfortable, but it wasn't necessarily painful. He told me to take a deep breath in, and when I exhaled, he pushed the needle through. It did hurt, I won't lie, but it wasn't the kind of screaming pain I had expected. Putting the jewelry through only took a second, and it was only mild discomfort, not painful.

I tend to get woozy when I'm pierced, so I had to lay down for a minute to get myself ready for the next one. Steve gave me the option to not get it done, but I was afraid if I didn't do it then, that I would never do it. So I sat back up, and he put the clamp on the other one. Same deal- deep breath in, exhale. That piercing hurt more than I had ever imagined. I had heard that the second one always hurts more, and it's true. I screamed "Oh fuck, Jesus Christ!" and I thought Melina was going to pass out. Steve quickly put the jewelry in it and I laid down again. It was a few minutes before I felt good enough to go out of the room to pay.

Everyone but Jason, the apprentice, was gone by the time we got out of the piercing room. Jason said "Well, from what I heard, you went through with it." I paid Steve, and gave him a tip (which I had never thought of doing before, but I figured that he had to hear me scream, so he had earned every penny) and we left.

My nipples were VERY sore for the next few days, but it wasn't unbearable. However, if anyone is thinking of getting their nipples pierced, I think the best way to do it is to go and get one done, and go back a week later and get the other one. It will probably end up costing more that way, but it might be slightly less painful.

I have had my nipples pierced for about 3 months now, and they were so worth the pain. The only major mishap that I had was a few days after getting them done, when my boss asked if I had gotten my nipples pierced. I said "Yes, who told you that?" He said no one had told him, he could see them through my shirt. So one last word of advice about that, invest in some thicker bras before you get it done, they're more noticable than you would think. I have to check everything that I wear now, I'm so paranoid that everyone is going to see them.

I hope to eventually get circular barbells to put in them. Right now I have 14g. CBRs, but I think the circular barbells are much more attractive. I never thought to ask about the jewelry before getting it done.

Once they're healed, it's totally worth it! Good luck to whoever is thinking about getting it done!
