The other day I made plans to go with a friend from work to get some piercings. She decided she wanted to get her navel pierced, and I was going to have my nipples pierced vertically. Well, the day came, it was a Thursday, the day before we had to go back to work. I went to the meeting place, and waited. And waited and waited. Finally I called her, and she informed me that she was too busy, but insisted she didn't forget (BS), she just didn't call me.

But on the way, I decided "what the hell" I'm just gonna go for it. I picked up my girlfriend (which took 2 hrs for her to get ready) and headed out to Needlewurks in Saratoga, which is about 45 minutes away. Now this is not the closest studio, but having had work done there before, I really love this place. It is very clean, and the staff is super friendly. So we get there, and I was overly nervous. Maybe its because the last time I was there, I got my septum pierced, which hurt like a bitch. So I was expecting a lot of pain.
I walked in and was greeted by Erica, the piercer. I told her I wanted to get my nipples pierced. She made me show ID, then wanted to see my nipples. I showed her and she got really confused. I already had my nipples pierced. Thats when I explained I wanted a barbell vertically behind the entire areola. She stood there and thought for a moment, talked to her apprentice, and I filled out the paperwork, she asked to see my nipples a few more times, and got out a caliper, and measured them. Then we picked out some 12 gauge barbells that were about 1 inch long. I was then lead back to the chair, and cleaned up. The place was very clean. I saw the autoclave sitting there, and all of my jewelry, and needles where opened from fresh packages, as were the clamps (dun dun). So she marked me up and allowed me to look in the mirrors to see what I though. Now both marks where crooked, and I complained, and told Erica to fix them. So she "fixes them" and I look in the mirror again, now they are still crooked. So I decide to stop arguing, and now I get to lay down. She puts on the clamp, which took forever, and hurt a bit due to the large amount of skin that she was pulling in. They have a mirror on the ceiling, and it bugged me being that I hate needles. So she tells me to take a deep breath, inhale through my mouth and exhale through my nose. I do. I feel the needle go in, it's just like giving blood, it hurts for only a moment, and then its all over. Then I feel the rush come, it's the best feeling, I just wanted to lay there. She kept asking if I was ok, and I guess it took me a while to respond. I was just fine, never better. She proceded to put in the jewelry, and this is where it gets fun, I feel her playing around for a while, and then she says "uhhhh". This is when I start to wonder. She explains to me that she pierced me with the wrong needle, and that the 12 gauge barbell that I selected will not fit in. I had the choice of her stretching it or just putting in a 14, I decided to keep things simple, and avoid any problems, that I will just have 14s put in instead. So the apprentice went out and grabbed 2 14 gauge barbells and away we go, Erica put in the 14 gauge with skill and we were on to the right nipple.
She clamped me up, I breathed, and she pierced. This time, unlike the first time they were pierced, the second nipple hurt less, but the feeling of euphoria was even better this time, and I just layed there, floating on clouds. Then she slipped in the barbell, and I was all good. It only took about 30 seconds.
Other than not getting 12 gauge barbells like I wanted, I am very happy with the procedure, it was an honest mistake. After the piercing, I looked in the mirror, and the were crooked, but symetrical and that was ok, they looked good. It wasnt till last night that I fully appreciated the placement. I think the curvature they sit at is perfect. The little shiny balls that stick out on the top and bottom of my areola, the bottom one is in line with the bead from the CBR that is in my nipple. Perfect, and if I might say so myself, they look stunning.
I would recomend both Needlewurks and this piercing to anyone. It was great. The feeling is second to none, and I've done a lot of things that felt good, nothing compares to this. And BTW, all the ladies like them :)
