Back in June, I had both of my nipples pierced at 14 gauge, 1/2 inch circular barbells. Less than a week later, I went to jail, had to take them out, and couldn't get the left one back in. I've been lopsided since then. Yesterday -- maybe since it was because it was my birfday, maybe because I was feeling lonley, who knows -- I went to Perforations. Part of me wanted to get repierced, part of me just wanted to stretch the left one to 12 gauge. After a lot of waivering and a few cigarettes, I decided to do both.Obviously, I wanted to match, so I went to 5/8, 12 inch in the right nipple -- no sweat. Then the time came to repierce the left nipple, which had me really scared.
A long time ago, I pierced my left nipple myself. I used a safety pin, which led to infection and bad scarring. Then, it was pierced in June, but taken out, which left even more scar tissue. Last time it was pierced it hurt. Now, factor in more scar tissue and a bigger needle, and understand why I was literally shaking. Charon, tattoo lady, was nearby willing to let me hold her hand, but for some reason, that doesn't help me. The piercing HURT, but unlike last time, afterwords it wasn't burning or stinging. I was up off the table and walking to the convenience store within minutes. I didn't shower today, so I haven't cleaned it yet, which is bad, but I have been applying Bactine.
The point of this experience was the scar tissue factor, and I doubt that it really increased the pain factor. I think the only issue was placement. Hopefully, it won't be an issue again... :)
