Having that piercing urge once more , I headed off to see Dr Dick again to have more sensitive body parts pierced!! This time I decided on my navel. I was quite nervous of course, knowing how I react to piercings.

Sitting in the waiting room she was extremely nervous, yet, it didn't really faze me until out came Dr Dick beckoning us in.
After I signed the consent form, Dr Dick applied some Emla cream to both my navel then proceeded to mark my friend's eyebrow for placement. Once she was happy with where her hole was going to be, it was full steam ahead. Watching him inject the anesthetic and seeing her get pierced, I found myself feeling lightheaded and dizzy and on the verge of fainting before he had even started on me1 So he finished off my friend, mopped up the blood and she was stoked with the whole no pain aspect of the piercing.
After she was done I stood up so he could remove the Emla cream and he marked my navel for placement when yet again I almost fainted. I laid down on the table and there was no looking back now. Boy was I nervous.Dr Dick injected my belly with anesthetic, moments later he began prodding around with the needle which I was unaware of. After that he proceeded to pierce my belly. I didn't feel pain as such although I was aware of it all happening. I was also aware of him piercing my flesh and that there was a needle under my skin and it was at this time, and for this reason that I began to again feel sick.
It's so hard to explain how I felt. I was nauseous, felt cold one minute then was sweating the next, and I couldn't stop yawning!! It was at this time that Dr Dick decided to put in a smaller ring. He changed it, inserted the ball, and I asked him to cover it up cause I didn't think I could handle seeing the blood. At this stage I was ready to get up, pay my bill, and be off, however, my friend and Dr Dick made me get over the first piercing before deciding to wimp out on my second. In the end I decided to put up with the nausea for the duration of the piercing of my nipple – which is another story.I was discussing with him my reaction to piercings, this being the second time he had pierced me, and apparently maybe 1 in 10 people have the same reaction as me. I find it quite bizarre actually. I have a fear of pain, and I think what actually makes me uneasy, and consequently reacting the way I do, is knowing that my flesh is being punctured by a foreign piece of metal. I get extremely nauseous and yawn and sweat. It is horrible, and then I get all embarrassed about it. But I'm usually back to normal the next day, a little tired but ok.
I didn't experience much pain after the anesthetic wore off, however, I wouldn't recommend having a shower after having two piercings. Again I almost fainted. My belly took quite some time to heal and I think this was attributed to two things. One, that I don't have a washboard flat stomach, and two, that I opted to have a ring instead of a curved barbell ass jewelry.
After the initial healing period, the piercing would flare up from time to time and give me a bit of grief. Approximately a year and a half after I got the initial piercing, I caught my ring on a ladder, don't ask me how. This ripped the ball out of the ring and the piercing bleed and bleed. I was left with a keloid scar. Once this healed, the piercing continued to flare up from time to time, but it wasn't until recently that I developed irritation on the bottom hole. It was like a purple pussy sore and once it was popped it healed up ok.
In the past six months I have lost about fifteen kilos and in the past month I have noticed that my piercing has started to grow out, like my nipple did. I have consulted various piercers who have told me to take it out, let it heal and have it repierced deeper. I visited my initial piercer to have my nipple repierced recently and he advised me that is it borderline. I ended up having a very small curved barbell inserted, and will watch it carefully, because if it migrated further, I may be left with substantial scarring.
I know navel piercings are one of the more troublesome piercings, but I still really like it and couldn't live with out it!
