Studio Octopus Ink
Location Lawrenceville, G.A.
For about a year now I have wanted my belly button pierced. Every time I brought the subject up with my parents they said, "No, I only wanted it because everyone else had it done." After numerous power points, and essays written on everything from how they pierced a belly button to how you clean it, I finally convinced my parents to let me get it done.

Now that they were ok with the idea I had to find a clean shop/ a shop that pierced minors... I knew this would be kind of difficult. After searching around and making frequent visits to different location I finally decided on a place close to my house. The place Octopus Ink was very clean and the guys in there were rather friendly (I highly recommend this place to anyone who lives in metro Atlanta).

After filling out the paperwork and asking the guy my questions, it was time. It felt as if my heart was going to stop walking back to the room I was so nervous. Once in the room, the guy had me lay on my back, on this table with my hands under my butt so I would not try to grab him if I got scared.

The first thing he did was clean my belly button which seemed like forever but I guess that was a good thing, better safe than sorry. Then he made the mark where it was going to go, and had me stand up and tell him if it was ok. I was so nervous I did not even look at the mark I just said "yes" to get the whole experience over with sooner. Then he had me lay down again by this time I was shaking uncontrollably I was so scared. He picked up the needle, which to me looked like a tube and told me just to chill he was not going to do anything yet he was just looking. Little did I know he was going to trick me all of a sudden I feel this pinch and I look down and it was done! I was so surprised, because from all the stories I read they used a clamp, but he said he did not like to use clamps they caused a lot of unnecessary discomfort.

As soon as the jewelry was in he cleaned it, which did not feel the best, it stung a lot. I was so excited I jumped up and just stared at it in the mirror for probably a whole minute. When I finally got over how awesome it looked I went to the front where my dad was waiting, it was done so fast that he thought that I had chickened out. At the front counter the guy who pierced my belly button gave me a sheet with after care instructions, and a special bar of soap to clean my piercing and of course it was shaped like an octopus. From every article I have read on body piercing I have always read about this stuff you get to spray on, so I bought a bottle. I have always heard that belly buttons tend to get infected the easiest so I figured; get everything possible to keep it clean.

The minute we left the shop, of course I got on my phone and called everyone in the state of Georgia I was so excited. On our way home, we stopped for drinks at a gas station and the minute I got out of the car and started walking in I realized that it did not feel too good to walk. For about the first week it was very uncomfortable to walk, and sit down, every time I sat down I felt a pinch in my bellybutton. Also if you run like I do, it hurts pretty badly the first week. Athletes especially should be careful about wearing tight restrictive clothing it hurts, and can cause infection.

For the first week I cleaned my bellybutton two times a day and I made sure I cleaned if very thoroughly. But after about a week, I started slacking off on my cleaning and eventually I stopped. Since I have had my belly button pierced (about three months now) I have not had one infection, of course it takes a lot for my body to get any kind of infection. In the beginning you will get some puss that comes out of your piercing, but that is just part of the healing process it does not mean it is infected. All in all I would say it took a good two months for my bellybutton to heal fully.

I highly... recommend getting your belly button pierced I love mine and I have yet to meet anyone who has theirs pierced and they don't like it. Don't let the fear of pain stop u it is so... worth it and plus it does not even hurt to get it done. If you have any questions just e-mail me and I will be glad to answer them.
