Okay, so I really, really wanted to get my belly button pierced, but my dad seemed as though he wasn't giving in; my mom already said that I could. After I kept pestering him, I finally got a little coupon for Christmas that said : Good For One Free Belly Button Piercing! I was so excited, and truly couldn't wait. I tacked that bad boy up on my wall, until my mom and I found a date that was good for us.
At A Glance Author Kate When Two years ago Artist Ken Studio Ken's Creative Tattoos Location Batavia, IL We waited until the week after Christmas and started looking around for a good place. My mom heard about Ken's studio from a friend, so we checked it out. It was a really clean place, and the people were all friendly, and knowledgeable; so it was a go. It was a lot better than a lot of places around here, and I wanted to make sure I was going to a really good place with people that knew what they were doing, so It wouldn't get all messed up. We waited another week.. and by that time, I had convinced a friend to get hers done too! We were all set, and I was more than ready! We got in the car, and I kept thinking to myself; this will be a cake walk. It was like a 45 min. drive from my house, and I was still calm as can be. When we pulled up to the place, it was all dark in there, and there were no cars in the parking lot. I was thinking how much it would suck if we came all this way, and I was so pumped and ready to go, and no one was there.
We drove around for a little bit longer, and came back.. still no one. We went out to get something to eat and than my mom finally called the place, and someone was there! They were just out on a lunch break, but they were ready when we were. We walked inside, and there was a girl about my age getting ready to get a tattoo.. so we took a seat, and I looked thru some books they had on a table. The tattoo artwork was amazing, and it was hung up all over the walls. After about 15 minutes, a lady came to the desk and had us fill out paper work; since we were only 16 we needed our parents to sign for us. We got to pick out which barbell or hoop we wanted in after the piercing... (I chose a barbell, because I heard it was a lot easier to clean). And we sat back down to await our turn. Finally, they called us back and asked who was they lucky one to go first. My friend said she wanted to get her belly button pierced first, because if she seen it actually done to someone else, she may change her mind.. so I let her go ahead. Ken is a really nice guy; he looked kinda scary at first, but all tattoo artists are tattooed and pierced!.. right?
Ken sterilized everything.. and was very comforting about it all. He put a little dot on the area he was about to pierce, and had her stand up, and asked if it looked centered, and where she wanted it. She laid back down, and he took out the clamp. I think the clamp hurt more than anything! He said you will feel a pinch and kind of a burn.. but it would be all over before you know it. She looked like she was going to pass out.. and I thought I was going to also, after I looked down and seen the needle in her navel. I tried not to let it get to me, because it was my turn next, and I didn't want to chicken out! It was all over and done with within minutes, and than it was my turn! My friend had to lay there for a few more minutes, because she felt kind of dizzy, but after a sip of water, she was fine.
I laid down.. and pretty much set my mind to what was about to happen. I put a sweat shirt over my face so I wouldn't look.. or scream at that matter! Honestly, it was so easy.. and didn't hurt much at all. He obviously went thru the same steps as my friend.. and afterwards, it burned a little bit, but it was tolerable! I mean, I even went to the mall right after I got it done! They tell you to get dial hand soap..and clean it well for a month or two. I was scared the first day to take a shower, because the area was still so sensative, so I just took a bath and soaked the area. It was feeling pretty good after the first week or so, and sure was fun to show off!
It is still doing okay after almost three years, but I work as a stocker.. and sometimes bang it on a box and it will of course get a little bloody, but it's my own mistake.. I usually try to wear a band-aide on it to prevent that from happening! I love it so much though, and I do not regret getting it done! My sister got hers done, and my mom and her even got a tattoo from Ken's. Since I just turned 18, my mom is letting me get a tattoo... and I am getting it done there also; this week to be exact! I would really recommend this place for anyone out in this area! Don't be a chicken either :] You only have your body once !!
