I was constantly bugging my parents to let me get my navel pierced for the longest time and they just wouldn't budge. So, I decided since I have my license and the money to get it done without their permission, knowing that when the found out I would be in trouble!

When I got it done last September I was 17. I thought you had to be 18 to legally get it done...but I wasn't asked for ID. I went with my best friend and her boyfriend to Triple Take. When we walked in, it was a complete mess in there but I had only ever been in one other piercing studio so I didn't think much of it at the time. It was also the closest place near my house that would do navel piercings. Vanessa was nice but took the longest time to finally do the piercing. She just kept on talking about absolutely nothing! I filled out the papers and Vanessa recommended that I get the bottom of my belly button done, instead of the top, which is what I wanted, because of the way my belly button is shaped.

So, eventually we went back into the small room and sat in the dentist like chair, which was not very comfortable. I think since Chris left, the guy who did tattoos there, the place has been falling apart. Anyways, Vanessa washed her hands, put on gloves, marked my navel with marker and I sat back down. While she got ready my friend distracted me and Vanessa did the piercing. I barely even felt it and I didn't even flinch. She had put a plastic barbell in and said to come back in a month to get I real one put in. I paid $60 and off I went.

I cleaned my belly button everyday and other than the redness, it looked fine. After a few days, weeks, months..... it was still red and I was getting worried. I had tried to contact Triple Take several times but could never get a hold of her. I didn't want to drive all the way there for no reason so I just kept on trying to call. Finally her answering machine said that she was on vacation. I decided to go buy a barbell so that I good have the plastic one taken out and replaced until I could get a hold of Vanessa. About another month went past before I did finally get a hold of her, this was about the end of November or beginning of December. She said that they were doing renovation but that she would open for me so that she could take a look at my belly button and put a real barbell in.

So, I drove there and when I got there the door was open so I went in and I talked to the guy that was in there and he went to go get Vanessa upstairs in her apartment. He came back to tell me that she wasn't there! So, by this time by bellybutton was still red and it was starting to sting. So, I went to need a new hole and talked to the guy there. He changed my barbell for me and he didn't charge me anything. He told me that the piercing was done wrong, should not have been done with a plastic barbell and that I have the perfect belly button to get the topped pierced. Basically Vanessa is screwed in the head! He said that because of this, the piercing was being rejected, that's probably why it was stinging and why it was red and that it would eventually come right out of my skin! So the next night I decided to just take it out. I few nights later I got a hold of Vanessa again and I told her that I had to take it out because it was bothering me so much. She was pissed that I took out her work. She said she would not give me some of money back or a barbell that I never got!!! She said though that if I wanted to get the top done that she would only charge me $25 and she would put the plastic barbell in it again...so I still would not get a real barbell from her, and I'm going to get a piercing done at a place that's dirty...hmm I don't think so.

So it's been about 6 months now and I still have a scar, although it has faded a lot. I DO NOT recommend going to Triple Take. If you are thinking about getting a piercing I would recommend going to Ideal Imagery or Need a New Hole. Both places are very clean and the people there actually know what they are doing
