I've had my ears pierced but nothing else before until I was finally able to convince my parents to let get my belly button piercing. Not that I just wanted that (I've also planned to get my lip pierced, my eyebrow and some day after I move out corseting) but we made a deal to start with that first. It was decided that mother went to go take me to get it done, so I went to go visit my mother first. My mom wanted to see if the place had any good comments towards it, so she asked around, people said the place was nice and have not had any problems. So, my mom took me to this place about late afternoon, my baby sister went with.

The guy at the front desk was really nice and I started to calm down after a few minutes. We were looking at the glass case/front desk where all the jewelry was ( I was also drooling all over them too, I wanted all of them. Even that little bat curved barbell!). I was so amazed to see so many different types and sizes. He had me pick out a curved barbell, so I picked out a pretty one with red jem stones on the top and bottom end of it. He started telling me how he was going to do it, it made me feel a lot better that he was telling me ahead of time before doing it. After waiting for this girl into he back to finish up (She was getting her tongue pierced), It was my turn.
They had couches in the back room, so my mom sat down with my sister and the guy lead me into another smaller room but left the door open. I knew I felt really safe because it looked so much like a doctors office. He told me to lay down and relax, this time I started to get kind of tense. He put gloves on and a face mask (Better to be safe than sorry!) and got out brand new utensils from a bag. He took a marker out and marked the exact spot where he was going to pierce it then cleaned it. After that he put this yellowish-smelly stuff on it (Which I'm still not sure what that was for but I'm assuming cleaning process?). He then got ready and told me to relax, I started to tense and he had to tell me to relax again. So, finally I did and he put in position and then just pushed it in. I bit my lip and squeezed my hand (I don't tolerate pain well), it felt like a sharp, hard pinch and then it went away. I was shocked how fast it went. He put in a silver ring. I got up and looked at in the mirror then showed it to my mom. We then went up to the front desk, where he handed me the stuff I need to clean it daily with and instructions. After all that, we finally left.
My mom kept saying she thought the place was nice and that he had done a good job. It felt really funny walking with it, I've never felt anything like it before. After a few days, it did have some puss and blood but that was because my body was adjusting to the metal. So far, I have yet to get it infected. I've taken very good care of it. The curved barbell was to be put in after 8 weeks, but my mom refused to take me back. Just as a hint, never have your mother replace the ring with the barbell. I think that's one mistake I made. My mother had me pinned on the bed, and she slowly pulled the ring out. Then, replaced it with the curved one, but did it wrong. Instead of sliding it in, she tried to screw it in.... that hurt! My best friend Tina had to hold my hand, it hurt so much! Now, it no longer hurts and I don't mind tugging on it now and then, but my friend Tina is afraid to get her's pierced now! Afterwards, my cousin Lianna said she's had a bad time with that place. She said her friend had it infected but mine was ok, so as long as you take care of it, you will be ok. All I have to say is, make sure a profession does it, take very good care of it and don't be afraid to get it done. I had a good experience with The Magic Door, so for any navel or tongue piercing places to go to, go there!
