My experience consists of the following...
At A Glance Author Randi Contact sewingwithrandi@hotmail.com When It just happened Artist Andy Studio His House Location Windsor Ontario It started yesterday afternoon. March 13th. I was sitting in my room, talking on my computer... completely bored. I had been contemplating a new piercing for a while, but I couldn't quite think of one that I really wanted that could be done off the top of my head. Plus, even though I have needles, I don't have a clamp so it's hard to do anything really since everywhere that can be pierced without a clamp is pretty much already pierced on me. I really wanted to get my nape done, but lacking a staple bar, I decided I would just go for a inverse navel instead.
It was rather spur of the moment and random. That is usually how most of my piercings start out. I was talking to my friend Andy, and out of nowhere I was like "Hey Andy... You have a needle, and a Clamp, and nothing to do today.. Wanna pierce me?" or something to that extent.. He says sure. So I get myself ready and he comes and picks me up and we head back to his house.
The thing about Andy and I, is that we are both Body Mod freaks. Whenever we talk to each other it's always about Piercing's, or Tattoo's, Or Scarification's, Or Branding's...So I thought for once, instead of us just talking to each other about our latest experiences, why don't we make a new one, and let him add another one to my list.
Once at his house, We make sure everything is nice and sterilized. He puts some EMLA cream on my lower navel and we sit and wait for it to soak in. I would have been fine doing the procedure without the cream, but there is a first for everything... so no complaints on this end.
About half an hour later, it was now time to pierce me. I was nervous... Not to have the piercing itself done, but because this would be my first time being pierced my someone other than myself. I find it hard to trust anyone else, even if it is a professional. I am well informed of the human piercing anatomy, and educated to the full extent on almost all piercings and i know what i am doing. Plus, I know my body best and how it works, so i just prefer to do everything myself, and if anything ever happens to go wrong, I am to blame, not an innocent professional trying to make a living. I have done about 30 between my two ears. My rook twice. My lip, in the center, and the side. My tongue. My eyebrow 3 times. My nose. My navel, and My nipples. Some of which are retired, due to lack of interest in them anymore, or whatever other reasons I had, and some that are still around. I have also pierced friends ears, navel's, eyebrow's, lips, etc...
This was also Andy's first time piercing someone other than himself. But he has done a great job on everything that he did himself, so i trusted him. We marked where the piercing would go, then clamped it. Then he stuck the needle through me. Even with the cream, I could still feel the needle going through, thankfully. Because i love the feeling of being pierced. Thats half of the reason for my getting a piercing. I also love the cracking noise that is made with the needle rips through my flesh. As grossed out as it makes other people, I am fascinated with it.
Maybe it was because of the location of the piercing, but i was surprised to see that this was the first time that i have ever shed blood while getting pierced. It wasn't a lot, just enough to drip down. No biggie. I was actually kind of pleased to see blood, it just reassures me that there isn't something totally wrong with me, since every time I get a piercing, I don't bleed, I don't feel the "pain", and I don't get infected.
After the needle was in, he threaded the jewelery through, then i screwed the ball on. Got myself nice and cleaned up, wiped the blood up, then put some polysporin and vitamin e on it.
This was done yesterday, and so far so good. It is already healing well. No redness, No crusties, No pain what so ever. It feels like i have had it for years. I am so impressed. Then again, i have never had a problem with healing. Out of all the times I've been pierced, I don't think I have ever had an infection, or problems during the healing process. I guess I am just extremely lucky? Or my body just loves being pierced as much as my mind does.
